Day 14 continued....

The last stop for the evening was the Thapae Beer Bar centre, which is also located on Moonmuang Rd. I had read about a beer bar in this complex called Bella Bar, that had a few ladyboys on staff. Once again not alot to report on this ocassion, however I do believe its worth another look if you are in town. They also have a ladyboy cabaret show, so that could also prove useful for those that fancy the cabaret 'girls'.

This venue is next door the Top North Hotel (on Moonmuang Rd), which should make getting your bearings fairly simple.

Left the Thapae Beer Bar Centre, and proceeded to walk back towards the Chiang Mai Entertainment Centre to give me the opportunity to assess the freelancers along Moonmuang & Loi Kroh Roads. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of freelancers on offer.

By the time we got back to the Shamrock Bar, it was around 3am & they were pulling down the shutters.
Far kindly offered to drop me back at the hotel, so I kindly accepted and hopped on the back of her motorbike. :D

Thanks for the report and answering my question I asked about Chiang Mai updates!!!!

No problem ! :D

I would have responded sooner, but was wanting to keep the time-line of my trip report in order.

Still a few more bits of information in regard to Chiang Mai to follow, and will also attempt to update the thread via the link below, dedicated to Chiang Mai which already contains some great information if you haven't already seen it.

Dedicated Chiang Mai Thread covering Ladyboy Venues & Travel Information

Day 15

Finally made a visit to the area on Chang Klan Road known as “The Peak”. This area apperars to have gone backwards, and the major draw card, a rock-climbing wall is now gone. The front of this large space contains some restaurants, massage shops and handicraft stalls; however towards the rear you’ll find a cluster of dimly lit beer bars. The gay bars seem to have multiplied, and now appear to outnumber the girly bars. Amazingly enough, the sole ladyboy (Jenny) I discovered at the Shu Shu Bar over a year ago was still around, although it did take me a few moments to confirm she was one and the same. Despite not wearing an ounce of make up, she was still very attractive, sported a perfect figure and was definitely passable. The Shu Shu Bar had a “For Sale” sign up, and it pretty much confirmed my suspicions the area was struggling, and its longevity questionable. I did see a few patrons (mainly in the gay bars) but the place was pretty dead.

Day 15 continued..

Headed back to the hotel for some family business but later in the night ventured out to the Shamrock Pub. My old friend Far introduced me to a guy from New Zealand she was chatting to, and during the conversation I asked whether he liked the ladyboy venues. Apparently he wasn’t aware it was a ladyboy bar, and despite stating he wasn’t sure, I honestly think he had no idea and was clearly thankful I had pointed this out. A few moments later, Far comes over and asked “Why did I tell him ?” I explained what had occurred, and that it wasn’t intentional, however it brought back memories of stories where farangs were beaten senseless by gaggles of ladyboys for scaring off potential clients. Thankfully no such fate awaited me on this night.

Shamrock Pub is a mixed bar, but the ladyboys outnumber the ladies. It’s a very relaxed place, and the large pool table is a bonus. Enjoyed a few beers whilst playing a few rounds of pool. Realised I was running out of Thai Baht, and all the exchange booths were already closed, so it was appreciated that the manager of the bar agreed to exchange my $100 Australian for Thai currency.

Day 15 continued...

Wandered the short distance over to Marina Bar, where Marina herself was seated, and was soon buying “Tequila for Marina”, and drinks for the rest of the staff.

Attempted to take a few pictures of Marina, but she was a difficult subject.

Day 15 continued...

A couple of very sweet ladyboys were at the bar on this occasion, and had I been staying alone, I would have surely partaken. One thing I dislike about this place is the constant pressure for lady drinks, especially from Marina. It does grind on you after a while. Needed to take a leak, and got up from the bar to use the private bathroom at the bar, and was escorted by one of the sweet ladyboys who offered to join me. As I unzipped my pants she playfully attempted to hold my cock, and it all seemed like a bit of innocent fun until I exited the bathroom. Marina was standing there going ballistic, and screaming at the ladyboy in question and barking orders at all the other staff. She clearly wasn’t happy with me either, but the bulk of her anger was being vented on her staff. Was rather surprised at the overreaction, so quickly asked for my bill and made a hasty retreat.

Day 15 continued....

Decided it was a time to take a wander up Loi Kroh Road and check out the freelancers. Leaving the Chiang Mai Entertainment Centre, and turning left, the first group of freelancers are only a short distance up the road. Walk a little further, and you will find a second group. If you turn left onto Moon Muang Road, there is a group hanging out in front of the DK Book Centre. On this night, I kept walking, and just past the large petrol/gas station I discovered a fourth group, best described as young femboys and are pictured below. Earlier in the evening I had been offered short times for 500 Baht, and now I was being offered short time for 300 Baht.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Planning on being back in the Land Of Smiles to repeat it all again shortly.

Thanks for all the feedback, particularly the positive stuff ! :D

Cheers

Excellent stuff, another informative trip report.

The Chaing Mai girls look a little below the standards most of us are use to, but something tells me it could be the next stop on the legends tour..

September trip anyone???
