Well Anthony, as Mardhi said a lot earlier: employment terms are a lot different here, than in the UK. Nobody here gets 2 weeks holiday (except the boss :D ).

And she's not on holiday, is she? She's off, earning money. Her clock is ticking while she is with him. Meanwhile the poor oppressed bar owner is minus a key member of staff.

Does that help?

hopefully it will help you, the customer, understand why a barowner would get upset by the "I don't give a flying fuck about the bar",

i am trying ,
but i still cant find a place to care about other peoples business,s.
even you admit you dont give a fuck about the other bars.

Surely the girl that leaves the bar for 2 weeks with a guy who says is not paying the barfine is the one at fault. If she refuses and says he has to pay the barfine then there is no problem from the bars side. Then the punter has the choice to pay the bar and take her or just say no thanks and walk away. If a girl decides to go with a punter that doesnt want to pay the barfine then he has done well and the girl should be the one facing the wrath of the bar manager.

help me to understand why a member of staff, who comes in night after night for work, cant take two weeks off when her known boyfriend comes over.
why must there be a penalty.?

i emphasise one known boyfriend, and once a year.
not the millions of customers that they annoyingly called boyfriends.

I've done this a number of times with the same girl in the past .

When she knew I was coming she stopped work that month , stayed with me for a few weeks then freelanced at her bar the rest of the month .

It suited her fine as she could come and go as she pleased .

It also suited me .

This was her suggestion not mine and she sorted it out directly with the mamasan and bar owner .

Pretty clever on her part also as it meant I was more likely to stay with her the whole time and barring any major arguments that was always likely to happen back then .

I wasn't going to say anything on this subject, as most people have said it all already, from various points of view and opinions. However I feell have been subjected to both ends of the barfine argument, and through no fault of my own IMO, ended up beling villified by a certain barowner.
A few years ago, as many of you know, I had a favourite girl from Ezy bar, who I spent all my time with while in Pattaya 2 or 3 times a year. I always patronised the bar while there, on a nightly basis, and paid the BF for the full time of the holiday, which is fair enough as I had taken this lady out of the bar for that entire period. To be fair, Lita organised a significantly reduced long term barfine charge, so everyone was quids in, so to speak.
A few years ago, I (stupidly, drink was taken) invited this girl to Samui to spend xmas with me. As I would not be in Pattaya the entire duration of my stay, there is no way I could pop in to the bar to say hi, buy drinks etc. A fee was negotiated for the girl, top line, and as it was my fifth trip that year, I forewarned her that she would most certainly earn more staying in Pattaya getting barfined, as there was no chance of me reconsidering the fee, as I was stretched financially already.
All said and done, this girl decided to come to Samui for 10 days, leaving Ezy behind her for that period.
Anyway after she returned to Pattaya, I got quite a bit of abuse about not sending the BF money back to the bar. My opinion is why should I be obliged to do that. As far as I was concerned, it is the business of the girl in question to organise/negotiate that with the bar.
To say I don't give a fuck about the bars is perhaps a bit strong, I certainly do care about the likes of LaBamba and a few other places where I feel like a welcome customer, and not an ATM. However I do not feel any sense of obligation towards any bar or barowner. While in any bar, it is fair enough to pay the odds, drink prices, barfines etc., but beyond that it should really be between the staff and the owner/manager to sort out between themselves.

To say one does not care about other businesses seems to be a bit short sighted. You can learn from other businesses successes and failures to make your business better and ultimately more profitable.
When I first arrived in LoS I was the typical 2 week millionaire and I do not think I am. 'cheap charlie' but ii do not recall spending in the bar 10K or even 5K a night. Exclusive of after hour expenses, I.e dinner movie oh yea the shoes. Maybe 'Nuffield said' for me or just my 2cents worth!

Must say that this subject was really spicy..ouch :D..& interesting too.

However: I still dont give a flying f**ck about a bar like Cascades since they dont do dito to me..Thats the bar who treaths its girl if she brings her paying customer to the wrong short time room ffs..so I doubt they care about anyone at all really.

I still love a bar like C&D (and similar) beacuse they care, with or without popcorn  .."Nuff said"! 8)

That all depends on a lot of things , some guys get bored with the whole bar experience and if you find someone you get on with why not ? Its your holiday .

I've done both and enjoyed both but if I'm totally honest the best times were when I went for the bedpost notches .

Nothing beats the thrill of the chase :harhar:

Of course you'd be very welcome, Sev7en.

Thank you , Mr Jim. Hope to find my way back there someday.

That is why bars with hostess staff have to be so attuned with this and why little bars don't give a flying f**k about it as invariably they know the whereabouts of their (few) staff at any given point and can spot these punters a mile off.

The arrogance. But yes, i know this is how the majority of mongers in Thailand are considered.
