whilst nobody can dispute the bar loses money if a customer takes her away from the bar, but should she really be expected to work 365 days without any holidays either.?
its not like the bar have to give holiday pay.
if you took one for two or three nights, i think most people think it fair enough to pay the bar fine, but what about two or three weeks.?
would you.?

In any event..... such a scenario applying to myself is remote at best, I tend to find that you've had the best of what they've got to offer after two days

but personally, i couldnt give a fuck about the bar. i wouldnt pay it.
in my experience, the bar may spit the dummy at the time, but they soon let the girl return to fill the till up once again.
no harm done.

Another way to look at it is if you take a girl out for a couple of weeks and pay the bar fine how much are we really talking about compared to the overall cost of your trip, only a small percentage

The fact is that the bar loses considerably more if the girl is not there as she does not have a customer with her buying drinks.
and if your wife took you on holiday, your employer in your country would lose income whilst you are away.
shit happens, its only for a couple of weeks,
as i said, you cant expect people to work 365.

It would also depend where she is taken from - if its a salary bar - then if she does not turn up she will simply be docked the barfine amount for each day she is 'missing' from her salary. If its a full month she physically has to pay to go back to work - that is a fairly standard operating system in P4P bars and normally capped at 10,000b - it is enforced to ensure that others don't think they can get away with it. No different really to any other job.
If It is a bar where she freelances then not much can come off it as she don't get a salary for turning up in the first place.

Lets face it its not really a holiday is it - at least for the girl - she is still expecting to be getting paid in some form or another. That payment maybe in the form of a monthly retainer or whatever, but she will still be expected to wear 6" heels, dolled up in make-up, wear similar clothes to the bar and provide activities on demand when the guy wants it and essentially to do what he wants to do. A holiday is when they go home alone to Nakhon knowhere and actually enjoy themselves, sleeping, eating, sleeping, eating, getting drunk, sleeping etc etc. Its similar but not quite the same especially in their minds - she will be thinking she is still 'on the clock' and she will want suitable compensation for what other income she has missed out on.

But.. with a smaller venue such as C&D (example)..I would be straight & pay up any extra cost. There it comes down to a more personal, friendly level with the owners & also how very good they treat me as a customer, thats atleast how I see it.

We also support the forums and their members in many ways, answering queries, even helping with hotel bookings etc, advice on where to go, what to do, and so on. Yes, it is "free" promotion, but it works well for both sides.
However, i absolutely have sympathy with the selective attitude that Pentire, and one or two others have mentioned. Why should you "give a fuck" with certain bars that just try and empty your pockets, with minimal sevice (my personal gripe is Pooks Bars, where in the past, i have spent good money, but now get treated with disdain, even hostility!).
Mardhi's comments about salaried staff and freelancers, is bang on the money.
Following my rant on the C & D thread, and the many comments that followed, we are reviewing our policy and i'm grateful for the thought-provoking comments many of you have made. Some good has come from this discussion despite my initial anger at the guy who long-termed Donut.

When I think of all those guys who many of us can call a friend, to announce to the world that you couldn't give a fuck about their bar, why on earth should they give a fuck about him?
It's a sad reflection on anyone that they need to express such contempt on the net. I hope he is not planning a trip to Phuket, his host may be less than hospitable.
