Here in Pattaya at the corner of Pattaya Tai and Second Road is a school called, "Smart Student School," another as opposed to what ...

Petsie, I think they may assemble Mitsubishi vehicles here because they seem more reasonably priced.

TL57, at least with that you can think that maybe it's a school for advanced students, but "child-friendly"- jeez.

Another surprise from Angel; her bargaining skills. She's been saving about 22% of our monthly budget. A few weeks ago, we stopped at a furniture store just to look. She spotted a living room set (sofa and 2 chairs) that she liked. She asked the cost, and was told it was 22,000 PHP (about $520 US). She said that was a little high, and the shopkeeper brought it down to 20,000. Angel asked if that would include any throw pillows, and the lady said she'd give us 5 (3 for the sofa and 1 for each chair). Angel then spotted a standing, full-length, swiveling mirror, and asked if that could be included in the price. The lady reluctantly agreed to throw in the mirror, and Angel said she'd have to think about it, and wanted to look around elsewhere. The other night, she sent a text to the owner of the store, asking if the set was still available, and if so, could she bring down the price. She got her down to 16,000 PHP (about $375). We went down to the store yesterday. The deal was just about finalized when Angel spotted a coffee table. It's glass, wood and chrome. She asked if that could be included. To our surprise, the lady agreed, and we had it in our place an hour later. Angel is thrilled. It's nothing fancy, but it's well made, of good quality and it fits our apartment nicely. What a gal!

An aside - I won closest to the pin this morning at our golf tournament. A hole-in-one would have been a 52-inch flat-screen TV, but at least I have a nice trophy.

P.S. the mirror isn't pictured here, but take my word for it that it's positioned in a spot where Angel can check herself out as often as she wants.

at first glance, the bottom pic looks like someone has hung themselves.
"im sure if u look around u can find a sunken face under caloried 10 year vet tranny bar girl, her face might not be as uniquely sunken or her ass dents so dented but just have a look, life is full of options." - boomdraw.

It's a good thing too, TL57, because I suck at it. Thanks, 31, and welcome to The Forum.

Thanks for the comments, mcaizar5. Tomorrow will be the 3-month mark. While there are still some frustrations with the culture clash, Angel and I seem to be settling into a comfortable routine. On the face of it, this is a very unlikely match up, but it seems to be working just fine.

One odd note - I left New York for a land rife with volcanoes, earthquakes and typhoons. In the past week or so, New York has been hit by an earthquake and a hurricane, while it's been peaceful here (the typhoon the other day struck Luzon, not here). What a strange world we live in.
