I thought it was getting better but then suddenly it slumped, i did see the Aud dollar get near 25 last week. I'm hoping it gets back to the 29-30thb to the Aud $1 by my next trip.

I'm sorry to say DS but the highest it got early last week was just over 23....i don't know where u got 25 from... Friday it was 20.4...a disaster....if you hope for 29-30 bht for your next trip you won't be going for some time....that's just how it is...Cheers Donnykey

These are not good times, add the historically appalling exchange rates to the usual Xmas and New Year hike in prices and tip expectancy levels in hotels, bars and other services I somehow think PP will not be alone in aborting his trip this high season.

3800B Phil, come on, how long is that gonna last?
2 houres in a whatever bar, and a short time and you are dry.
Then you have to leave all the fun, go back to your "loom" dig out your cc, and find a ATM.
Now that's a waste of time :!:
I always get 20K Bath at the airport, and that hopefully will lats the first 48 houres
Ok I can see I'm wasting my time here , shame this forum has become a rich boys club .
If you were paying attention I stated earlier that I already had about 2700 bht .
I also said I was arriving at the airport at 11.10 pm . Now unless I have missed something the bars close at 2am .
I also said I would be visiting an ATM the next day for 10000 as that is what the withdrawal limit that I can remember.

Sorry you had to cancel your holiday. For falangs living here it is looking pretty tough. Majority of us cannot work so live on a fixed income - to see the rate go from 72 to 54 in 2 years is frightening. Like taking a 30% pay cut.

Whoa Phil. No one was having a go at you. Also remember a number of members - English is not their native language. Sometimes humour, sarcasm, wit, cynicism all get lost.

Hi Rossco , I have not cancelled my trip I'm just going to have to make some adjustments . I'm looking at a 20% cut.
I realise that Kinkoy was probobly making a joke but 20000 baht is NZ$1000 , my daily limit is NZ$800 . I could'nt imagine how I would spend more than 5000 bht a day on a three week stay without throwing money away needlessly . I do have a different GG or LB everyday and sometimes I have one of each .
I'm having to re-mortgage the house when I return to pay for the divorce , so this credit crunch could not have come at a worst time for me .
I will try and come and say hello to you in Pattaya as we kept missing each other last time.

During these difficult financial times we should all show respect and compassion to each other and not turn it into a competition of who can afford their trips or not.
Spare a thought for your fellow BM, who may be feeling the impact more strongly than you.

Sorry Phil, it was not my intention to offend you in any way, neither trying to show of as a "rich guy".
