Congratulations to your first DSLR, KK. Canon 60D is an excellent camera. I bought it in a kit with 17-55mm/2.8 lenses last October. It is much better than the Canon 550D or 600D with the usual 18-55mm/3.5-5.6 zoom. A constant aperture on a zoom is excellent for portrait photography.
Which lenses did you buy?
Hope you get the best out of your new camera.
Thanks bullseye,
I just need a couple of striking ladyboys to practice on....
The other lense I bought was the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM.
I figured it would be good for food photography which is something I hope to pursue.
Cheers

Its an awesome portrait lens for non-studio ;-) hotel room portrait type thingmadoodles too :-) Studio portrait as per BEM post, but that ofc all changes with a hotel room setting; little space, short distances, low light.
You got yourself an awesome lens. Even its performance compared to the 1.2 is quite fantastic. Again, enjoy! I am using (well used) the 1.2 on my DSLR (its now dusting away :-) Do bear in mind the crop factor since your not shooting full frame, so 50= ~75mm in your D60 (35=~50mm).
I shot a lot with the 1.2 50MM on 5D MII FF and it's just perfect. What I also love is that its a prime, so fixed, meaning you need to be active to get the shot, the composition instead of laying back and just zooming in and out, makes for much more energetic shoots which will translate to the model.
