... and so you can always carry a spare rechargeable set with you.

As TJ said, the AA battery mention did cross my eye, but as BB says, rechargables are easily available so I wouldn't let it put me off.

I'm really being lured more and more everytime I look at those new cameras, their long optical zooms are so very tempting.

Have to fully agree there. This was taken from a very safe distance, paparazzi Pattaya style. :pic:

Don't fancy yours DC.

If the locals don't cut it and you want papped bikini clad Russian babes on the beach in Pattaya,

... you need only ask

I'll get back to you about that next week live from the front line. :harhar: Anyway to digress and go back to the topic, this fellow looks pretty good for a pocket point and shoot with a good zoom. Might be my next one if my P&S Panasonic packs in soon.

It has a lot of features TJ, if you want to use just Auto then you could get something cheaper. But for a camera with a good zoom, good anti shake and the reviews say good in low light, it seems ideal. I would go for it, but hey I like to mess around with the features. The photos look sharp, and I am sure the Auto would be good. Here is another review.

I just bought Sony WX7 and I can confirm it is awsome little camera. Night pictures are more than just acceptable and being more than 2x smaller than my good old Lumix TZ5 I sure won't cry because of smaller zoom. All in all... I'm ready for LOS.

As you seem to be intereted in Low Light and good Auto TJ, i read this about the Sony.
"The (Sony) HX9V has two low light composite modes, and a new Superior Auto mode which combines scene recognition with composited multiple exposures to get the best results."
