I use a Nikon P7000 compact which is also great so much so I leave my D300s DSLR at home and rarely use it, so much so I'm thinking of selling it and my lenses as it's had little use.
With the recent intro of the P7100 the earlier model should be shortly reasonably discounted.
I have my beady eye on the Nikon V1 as I think I'll get more use out of it due to it's compact nature.

As TJ said, the AA battery mention did cross my eye, but as BB says, rechargables are easily available so I wouldn't let it put me off.... and so you can always carry a spare rechargeable set with you.
I'm really being lured more and more everytime I look at those new cameras, their long optical zooms are so very tempting.

Have to fully agree there. This was taken from a very safe distance, paparazzi Pattaya style.

I'll get back to you about that next week live from the front line. Anyway to digress and go back to the topic, this fellow looks pretty good for a pocket point and shoot with a good zoom. Might be my next one if my P&S Panasonic packs in soon.If the locals don't cut it and you want papped bikini clad Russian babes on the beach in Pattaya,Don't fancy yours DC.
