Sonya got two days off from work and we celebrated it by buying induction cooker. So after buying rice cooker last week, we have now basic kitchen to use. Because food is second most expensive thing here (after rent+electric), we are hoping that now we can save money and still eat quality food. Machine itself was quite cheap, only 1400THB so comparing one night in bar, hopes are high.

Todays menu will be rice and pork...

About cars

When middle salary of country is about 300€, i wonder how these people can drive so new and expensive cars? When i first time came here, i was expecting to see similar sight than in old soviet union, old rusty "bombs" and only metal wire keep them in one peace. Well, truth was very different. Basically it's very rare to see real crap cars here. How they do it?

Notice pic where guy is in blue shirt.

If you want to look "bad-ass" but your mom don't give you permission to take real tattoos, you can always buy tattoo-sleeves huh.png

As someone explained to me, the lack of old clunkers is due to the relative newness of the infrastructure. Secondly, they instituted a 'first car buyer's' program last year, so many new vehicles but there may end up being a lot of repossessions because the customers' dreams were not realistic.
Old, cantankerous, and sorry if I piss you off - well, not really. Just enjoy!

Hi guys

It's been some time since last update, mainly because nothing "enough special" hasn't happened. I got couple photoshoot request from Stringfellows, Kings Bar and La Bamba and those pics can be found here...

Stringfellows

Kings Bar

La Bamba in beach

I want to send my thanks for La Bamba staff, they really made their best effort that everything worked well and i felt comfortable. It was great fun for me and girls.

There was hassle in another forum about photography policy in bar and even most people like to look pics, none want to see camera in bar. So it seemed that pics should somehow magically appear in forum without anyone actually to take them. It took some time to find out what is my position with bar owners and now it seems that everyone is ok with me and that mess wasn't actually pointed to me. Hopefully this matter is now treated. Special thanks for Dixon Cox and for those BM's who came to say that i'll do good work and they hope that i will continue. It warms my heart to hear that at least most of you appreciate my efforts. Anyway this subject is closed to me now and i'm not gonna say anything in this diary anymore. From now on i'll only deal with bar owners about this.

I had to send Sonya to dentist because she bites her teeths together when sleeping and i wake up that sound several times in night to push her stop doing that. Now she will get dental night guard so hopefully i can sleep without waking up that annoying sound.

About insurance

This sure is important thing and it seems that it's also very sensitive subject.

My travel insurance is valid only in trips what last max 3 months and then i should go to back in Finland. Because i can't do that, go back every 90 days, i have to find something from thailand. I got this link from Moo Yung (thanks again mate, you've been most helpful)

And it seems interesting. However i want to ask how you my dear reader have resolved this problem? (this question is only for those who actually live here)

I'm good only this month anymore and i need to find something before June.

Many thanks Teppis for yet another reminder. I know you have told me in person and via PM before but sometimes people (me) need an extra kick up the backside to do what they know is the right thing.

If asked, I would tell anyone that are they are foolish if they allowed themselves to be in a foreign country while uninsured, especially for accidental cover. I am currently uninsured, it expired a while ago. I'm a fool.

For accidental cover BUPA is very reasonably priced. I know you can acquire similar accidental cover at many Thai banks for around B2,500 per year, but I would personally feel better using BUPA as they are recognised worldwide with a good reputation. BUPA also comes in a lot cheaper than B2,500 for similar if not better cover.

I just visited the website link above and sent off my enquiry for further information. It needs doing.

"Lazy days"... how else i can describe my life. Many times my only "duty" is clean our room and make food before Sonya come home from work. Not very hard and not very exciting.

Sonya's school start yesterday again, her last year. Unfortunately this means that our free time together shrinks even more now when she uses her only day off from work to school. Anyway i'm very proud how she success in school, she is actually quite intelligent and gets really good grade. Last autumn when they had "big test" and her average was 3.7/4 our landlord give her little present and greeting card for excellent success.

We have some interesting plans for her future but first she must finish her school... meaning our free time for now on is quite limited.

I was in Sensations yesterday and place was pretty much full. Both Scott and Paeng seem to be somehow blessed because their bar is full of customers and girls, when other places are more or less dead. I had my camera in bag and Ruffa came to say hi, introduced Paris for us and asked if i could take couple of pics about them. I told that it's ok for me but first they need to ask permission from Scott, who was in conversation with couple of "gladiators". Yep, those guys really weared "gladiator" costumes, swords and all, so Ruffa said "maybe later". Anyway more and more customers came in and in the end there wasn't any free space to take pics anymore so no pics from Sensations, not even when i was asked.

I need to find decent gym from walking distance from home. There is some kind of "martial art" center in Pattaya Klang, but i'm not sure if it's for me. At this moment normal gym is best for my needs.

Tepid, you are a camera god! As for gym's, Tony has one every block (so it seems). Every once in a while he advertises a lifetime membership for small money (9,999 baht). He has one in Buakow where the treadmills face the street and I wonder how healthy is it to be doing that while sucking up the exhausts from the motorbikes and baht buses! Keep posting!
