Spyder Rocket - a few serious cuties in the last few bunches of photos - could give some of the Thai lbs a run for their money! By the way, which place is best for most beautiful lbs - Tokyo, Bangkok, Manila or Jakarta? ( joking of course!)
Glad you are joking because I wouldn't be able to answer. Each place has plenty of beauties.
I am wondering though - what is your general feeling regarding Japanese society views on newhalfs? Generally accepting, indifference or not accepting? My impression is Japan is quite traditional and male dominated so i would guess not accepting - but it seems with increasing numbers my impression may be wrong.
I think it depends on which aspect of Japanese society that you are referring to.
The Japanese business world is pretty strait laced and very conservative. I'd be very surprised to find a transexual working in a major Japanese corporation. Same goes for government workers and elected officials. Transexuals don't have that level of acceptance.
The entertainment industry is very accepting. There are jobs for transexual singers, actresses, and I would imagine even behind the scenes jobs too. Japan has a number of popular transexual personalities, and there have even been a few movies and dramas that feature transexuals in positive roles.
Then there are numerous opportunities in the service industry, like at bars, clubs and restaurants. Transexuals aren't regulated to only the sex industry if that is what you are thinking.
I don't think transexuals can go the onsen (hot springs) and bathe with females, but then again, they won't even let in people with tattoos either.
However, there are usually onsens in the gay districts that cater all types.
Attitudes at about tattoos at certain public beaches can be confusing also, but that usually tends to be associated with the Japanese attitude towards yakuza (organized crime). Many Japanese associate tattoos with criminals and shun displaying tattoos in public.
I'm not really sure how transexuals are treated at the beach, if they are somewhat passable and don't have large tattoos, I'm assuming they are ignored.
On a personal level, most Japanese are very polite and treat most anyone with dignity and respect. It isn't really their style to yell insults or to be openly hostile to people.
I was never ridiculed or drew strange looks for coming out of a Newhalf club, or going out to a restaurant with a bunch of gay guys and newhalfs.
People are pretty cool in Japan, if they have the equivalent of intolerant rednecks, I never met one.
I'm sure there are rights and discrimination issues, but I would put attitudes and acceptance in Japan on par with any other first world country. Not perfect, but not brutally oppressive either.
One other question - do Japanese make a distinction between a newhalf who is clearly on the way to becoming female (hormones, breast implants, eventually SRS), and those who strictly cross dress and wear makeup?

Thanks for sharing!
Glad that you brought this up. Yes, there is a big difference in terms of sexuality that can be hard to distinguish at times.
There is a segment of the younger generation that cross dresses, and it has more to do with Manga, Cosplay and even video games than it does with sexuality. There was a about a page of discussion on this a few pages back.
There are legions of late teens and early 20s guys who dress up like adorable females and go pick up women. There are also guys who crossdress and only want to hook up with other cross dressers, they call themselves "lesbians."
Probably many other little niches that I know nothing about.
There is a very wide spectrum of cross dressing activity that doesn't fit the pattern of what most of our forum is dedicated to.
There is also a segment of pop culture that is fascinated with the idea of androgynous characters.
Some of the guys who work in the host clubs for Japanese ladies fit that bill, as do the hosts at certain gay clubs.
If there is any confusion, you can always just ask, "are you gay?"
They won't be shy about asking you either.
I mentioned earlier in the thread about going into a gay bar and before being allowed to take a seat, I was quizzed about my sexual preferences.
I answered with "I only like newhalfs" to which they frowned, but then I said, "I am not here to have sex with you, I just want to drink with you!" They got a good laugh out of that and welcomed me to a seat at the bar.
Of course, later one of the androgynous hosts takes out his cell phone and starts showing me photos of him dressed as a very passable female.
I've had that happen a couple of times too, and I think that is why I am a bit more open to the idea of calling myself bisexual because of my dalliances with transexuals and crossdressers. It is also why I have a hard time understanding why we have some forum members who are so adverse to calling themselves bisexual.
I also got some good Intel on local watering holes that featured newhalf hostesses and patrons by being willing to mingle with the gay guys in Japan.
There are even "indoor only" crossdressers, meaning that they only go to certain bars dressed as females, or will only dress female at the love hotel.
The good looking ones will almost always be very slender, or if athletic, have a distance runner's build. If your mind is in the right place, it can be very erotic to watch the transformation.
It all depends on what you are looking for.
Japan is a very cool country and certainly worth a visit, just don't expect it to be a low-priced mongering paradise like Thailand.
It isn't Thailand, and I think most people know that.
Like any other country, it has its quirks and charms.
