Many thanks Dude, glad you're enjoying this tour of CamboAwesome stuff DC, fantastic cultural pics of a country that would be unchartered waters for many of us i feel and of great interest to more than just a few.........
But like any foreign country there are things that get you down and drive you nuts and it can take a while to feel comfortable. The pluses outweigh the minuses here for me, not sure they would be everyone's cup of tea.
You never know till you try

Arriving at Phnom Penh International Airport I took a $7 tuk-tuk from the airport to the Paragon Hotel, located on Sisowath Quay, booked by my buddy xyzzy, who was also in town with Kliome.
The airport is nothing of the scale of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi.

The Paragon Hotel, corner of Street 136 and Sisowath Quay.
$25 a night - but my room was a special room alongside the balcony for $28 - with TV, AC, fridge and wet-room/toilet and safety box downstairs in reception. It was little more than adequate, but a good location for those swinging in and out on a visa run.

You can get much cheaper food elsewhere in the City, but 2 doors from the Paragon Hotel is the Cadillac Bar & Grill, which serves a very good mix of Khmer and barang food. The breakfast is very good.
If you sit outside be prepared for the local kids to approach you selling their wares, from Cambodian related travel book and novels to tourist trinkets. The ones I met were all very friendly, but persistent, much like the tuk-tuk and moto drivers.
The whole Sisowath Quay area is the tourist mecca for Phnom Penh, especially on the riverside. The tuk-tuk and moto drivers are particuarly persistent and after a while you might find yourself being driven insane by the constant calls offering their services. I find not engaging in conversation with them served well, just a negative nod of the head and to keep walking was best, but remember to smile if they are pleasant to you.
Making purchases from children only encourages them to continue what they're doing with their young lives. It sounds mean, but it would serve them best in the long run not to buy anything from them, despite your heart-strings being tugged.
The following pics were taken towards the sun outside the Cadillac Bar & Grill on Sisowath Quay, so they're not so clear.

As you say DC, adequate is also the word I would use to describe the Paragon......nothing more than that.
