We settle down, and order. Before we know it, the drinks are flowing, lady drinks are coming fast and furious, and all feels good. I am trying my best to communicate with Gann, the more drinks we have the easier it becomes. I look around the soi, and have a big smile on my face, damn I love this town, especially in the company of like minded good guys, and a cute LB in my arms. They when things cannot get any better, Comfortably Numb comes on the sound system....perfect.

I wake about 11 and realise how damn comfortable this bed is, with the air con at the right temperature it would be easy to roll over and crash a while longer. But then it hits me that I have to be in Bkk later so I better get a move on. First thing is to send Gann on her way and get a bite to eat. No point traipsing around the sois looking for a place to eat and getting all sweaty so downstairs will do fine. Gann does not want to eat, so heads home.
I have my laptop with me, so can check the forum and read the newspapers while I wait for the food. I find the forums come more alive when I am actually in Los like reading live from the front line. Food out of the way, I pop back up to the room to pack. Change of clothes in my small day bag, I pluck 5000 Baht from the safe and leave the rest there. The stroll up to the bus station is a short 10 minute walk. My friends are going to meet me near Khao San rd, so the bus to the Southern Bus Station (sai TAI mai, stress on the TAI) suits me perfectly. An uneventful journey follows.
Traffic is heavy as we approach Bkk so I ring my mate to inform him I will be running a bit late for our meeting. I eventually hit the bus station around 6.30 pm. I head over to the main road and catch a local bus to Banglumpoo. With a small bag getting on is not much of a hassle even when the bus is quite crowded. I am in luck and manage to get a seat after 2 stops. Well in luck if you consider the road side seat with the traffic fumes coming in the window luck. As the bus clears I notice a kid sleeping on one of the long seats at the front. I then see a basket with clothes in it beside the driver. Suddenly it dawns perhaps this bus is actually the home of the driver, the female conductor and the sleeping kid. It gets me thinking no matter how much we moan and bitch about farangland, life there is not that bad, all things considered. Certain moments in Los can knock a bit of reality into us all, and it's no harm now and again to make us appreciate what we have. There but for the grace of God go I.
I jump off the bus and head straight to a guest house I usually stay in when in that area. It's on a soi off KSR, but I am a bit old for all the noise there and am meeting my mate on the quieter soi, Rambuttri along the side of the temple complex. He is an old Irish guy, 71, whom I have known since my second trip 8 years ago. He knows I dabble and reckons he will have to try himself sometime. The other friend I am meeting arrives a while later, she is a Thai girl whom I have known for a few years now, her family have a big restaurant in Pinklao. She is with her French boyfriend.
Anyway drinks flow and by midnight the old boy heads home and I wander the sois with my friend and her mates. We end up in some reggae bar off KSR about 2 am and stay there till about 3.30. One of the owners is one of ours, friendly and shy, sadly she is deaf in one ear. As I am planning to get up early and get back to HH asap, I call it a night, exchange our good byes till the next time and within 10 minutes I am zonked out back in my GH.

Thanks Petesie, yea I think it's no harm to take a moment every so often and ponder the whole situation or at least aspects of it while on a trip.I'm really enjoying this BB...the poignant moments in LoS are indeed all around us if we choose to look...I had some soul searching moments on my trip which brought lumps to my throat and some heartbreaking reminders of how gentle the Thais can be too...

Right it's 10 a.m. I tell myself as I make out the time on my watch with the limited light coming in the window. No point lying here watching the fan, so I drag my ass out of bed, do what has to be done in the bathroom and pop down to reception to get back my deposit. Mosey through a few back sois, avoid the traffic crossing Rachadameon Rd and in no time I am on a bus on my way back to sai TAI mai. I know there is a bus to HH at 11.30 a.m., and I make it with time to spare. I grab a bottle of water and a copy of the Nation in the 7/11 to read on the way down, I have done this route so many times there is seldom any surprises to keep my eyes entertained at this stage. I give Foggy a buzz to see how he is progressing on his trip up from Samui. He reckons he will be in town by 6 pm. I get back in to HH at 2.30 pm, great, I still have the afternoon to enjoy there.
I swing past a friend chicken stall I know and luckily he is still open. He bags me a few drum sticks and I buy some fruit in the stall nearby. As my day bag is pretty light I have decided to go straight to the beach and not bother going back to the Celtic first. I cannot resist a slight detour down Bintabaht to see what might be floating around at this early hour. As I pass Nice and Easy, Gann and Wan are lurking in the shadows and are all smiles when they see me. A bit of small talk follows and then it is onwards towards the beach and my chicken and fruit picnic. As I enter the covered area before the beach, I clock one of ours who looks familiar. I hover around and pretend to adjust my bag as a delay tactic, while my brain tries to work out where I know her face from. Finally the penny drops, she is on one of the Thai dating sites.
She notices me checking her out and smiles. Needing no more encouragement I move towards her and make my introduction. Her name is Sara and she tells me she has been in town for a few days. She goes on to say she will go back to Bkk tonight is she cannot find a place to stay mmmm. She looks very much like Foggy's type and so we swap numbers and I tell her I'll give her a call later to see if she is still about. Finally I make the beach, pass some girls playing ball whom I know from one of the bars, spot a patch of shade under a tree in front of the Sofitel and have my long awaited breakfast. It's good to be home, again.

I sort out his key at reception. As Ninewives has gone back to Pattaya and his room is paid up till Saturday, they are ok with Foggy taking the room for the remaining 2 nights. After freshening up we both head out and about. One of Foggy's mates owns a salon beside Caddy Shack, and he visits him while I pop over to the Grand Market, on the road south of town. I arrange to meet up with Foggy again in about an hour. On my way back into town, I get chatting to New and her friend, who are promoting the Blue Angel cabaret.

After a couple more, we are on our way for a shufty around the block along with Foggy's friend. Foggy has been in HH before and knows some of the girls around town. I show him the photo of Sara from earlier and he is quite impressed and asks me to give her a call to join us for a drink. Her phone rings out, no reply

We stay for a while more and Wan uses all her charms to make Foggy's mind up for him. He has been with her before, and so he settles for the tried and trusted. He bar fines her and off they go back to the room. It is getting late now, about 2.15 a.m. so I pay up and move on. Gann asks me where I am going and I tell her I am not sure, which is the truth or a good as at this particular moment.

We grab a table outside Caddy Shack 2 and before I know it New turns up. She gives me a big smile and asks can she sit at our table, of course she can. Get yourself a drink also I tell her. She tells me Gann has gone home, with a knowing wink. It's my second last night in town, time is running out, she is looking even better now with more beer taken, not that it is needed in her case and so a few smiles more and I am trapped, resistance is futile, game over for BB.

Damn it's my last full day in HH until god knows when, is my first thought when I awake followed by the realisation that the cute LB with the nice feet, oops, is still in my comfy bed. It's about 11 am and there is no way I am going to "waste" my last full day in town stuck indoors. I decide trying to wake New will the the last thing to do after washing, packing etc. all that trivial stuff done I give her a shake, to be met with a startled, sleepy eyed reaction. I tell her I need to go and do some things, does she want to stay in bed while I go out shopping or go home now. She reluctantly choses the latter, it looks like 11.45 is an early morning in the HH LB world.
I need to go to the Market Village mall, which is about 15 minutes walk heading south out of town. I call Foggy to see what he is up to, and he says he is heading to the beach. I tell him I'll catch him there in about an hour or so. I stroll up to the mall, and obtain my goal, one of those ass hoses to take home, all for the princely sum of 100 Baht.
From there I head out and over the foot bridge a bit down from the mall, and slip down a lane that leads to the beach. The tide is way out, and I shoot a few memories of the beach as I paddle my way towards Foggy.
