I enjoy the way you deliver your TR's BB, and this is yet another high standard effort.

As I enjoyed your pictures and text I felt I was strolling beside you up and down the soi's of the places you visit.

You've convinced me I should take a side trip to Hua Hin as somewhere to relax and renew, maybe at the end of a mad fortnight. I hope you're on a retainer from the Thai Tourism Board.

I had to smile when I noticed the name of the bar on the left in your last pic. I hope that dosen't apply to any girls who may work there.

Thanks Uncle and good to hear from you again, it's been a while. There is an LB in the Starfish bar, and I doubt she is one. :harhar:

I call Putytat about 7 pm to arrange to meet up for dinner,. He is staying near the Night Market and we fancy some sea food there. For anyone who likes seafood, HH is a great spot, and the prices are very reasonable in most places around town. Dav is still getting ready with May and tells us he will catch us in a while. As it is a holiday, the market is jammed and so we decide to head back to the bar area and a place I know, the Siam. We call Dav on the way, but he is busy again, this time waiting for May to get her salon work done. They both join us in the restaurant about 20 minutes later.

After the meal we head over to soi Bintabaht, all of a 1 minute stroll. We check out a bar beside 7/11, International Butterfly, which is on a raise about 1 metre above the soi. We nickname it the "moral high ground". We get chatting to one of ours who works there, whose name escapes me. From there we head down to Hornblowers, which is owned by a good Aussie bloke who I have know for 7 years now. It is directly opposite Caddy shack, so we can sit back and watch the LB comings and goings in comfort.

We chat with my mate about the bars closing early and he fills us in on what's going on. The new chief of police it seems is trying to recoup some of the money that he put into getting his new position. Therefore he is putting the squeeze on the bars to cough up more to stay open late to cover his investment. Many bars are refusing to play ball, and are waiting and hoping for it to blow over or at least achieve a reduction in the "tea money".

The time flies and after a fair few beers with Rod it is time for us to head back around the square. As I am passing Caddy Shack I get chatting to Rinne, who was driving the motorbike earlier in the day with Rai on the back. She tries to lure us in, but all the good seats are full, so we press on. Putytat followed by Dav and May call it a night at different stages and before I know it NW and I are back on the beach with a table full of 7/11 booze and the rest of the night ahead. I am amazed to see some Thais arrive on the beach at 5 am to start their day's fun and us still on our night out. Amazing Thailand indeed.

Monday 2 May

By the time I awake, there is a text from Dav letting me know he has gone back to Pattaya for his last night in Thailand. He wanted to escort May back, rather than send her back alone and hang out with us for his last night, what a gentleman... He managed to get a direct minivan to Pattaya, 400 Baht each in a travel agent a few doors down from the Celtic heading towards the port, great deal. He said the trip took just over 3 hours.

I give NW a call and we eat downstairs. Putytat calls to say he is taking it easy for the afternoon, and he will give us a shout later. After food NW and I stroll over to the beach and check out whats happening. Not a lot funny enough. We don't spend too long there, and head back towards the GH. It's about 4 pm now, so I head down to the port, always a good time to take photos there and NW goes for a nap in his room. I find the port a really relaxing place, watching the fishermen unloading the day's catch and the locals out for a stroll or going about their everyday work.

Leaving the port a motorbike zips by, with an LB I recognise as Pop, whom I have chatted to on Facebook, as she is a friend of some of the gang in Caddy Shack. The bike stops at a restaurant on the water, and I introduce myself. She is a bit shy meeting me in person for the first time. A bit of trivial small talk ensues and she says she will be in the Caddy later. She shoots off with her friend on the back, and I continue my travels snapping anything that captures my eye.

Thanks OTS. That's one of the enjoyments of photography, walking familiar sois, beaches etc, but seeing them in a different way and paying more attention to detail. Love it. :pic:

There's got to be a one liner in that Thai Wood photo...

You really make Hua Hin come alive with all the different photos. For sure a place I shall be visiting.

Cheers and good to hear you are considering the place. Nice convenient spot to escape the madness of the bigger resorts but still something to do there.

NW and I meet up with Putytat about 8 pm in Ko, one of the outdoor restaurants in the Night Market. They do a selection of Western and Thai food, with seafood quite prominent on the menu, as it it with most restaurants in the market. The market is basically a line of stalls on either side of a pedestrianised street, great for people watching.

After dinner we head down to the bar area and try to find some beer.... We hit Hornblowers again, and chill over a few cold ones and shoot the breeze while observing Caddy Shack opposite. Soi Binthabaht is next on our itinerary and a couple of bars there before coming back about 1.30 am to have a swift one in Caddy Shack. The owner of our GH is down the back of the place, we reckon he is secretly one of us, but we don't push him on it. Pop from earlier in the afternoon is tapping away on her laptop, and she seems much more interested in yakking to her friends on the various messenger applications than anyone around her.

The owner of the Celtic reckons one of the bars up the the late area will be open, and sure enough when we get there it is. Hidden away in the corner, the Thai owner obviously has some agreement with the BiB about staying open. Our host from the GH makes a beeline for the LB working there, we smile to each other with knowing nods.

Putytat is on for a late night, and is keen to check out this beach bar we have been talking about. So after some drinks we head there. The usual suspects for the previous 2 nights are present. This turns is our latest night so far in HH, I think we get home around 7.30 am, escorted by an amazing skyline.
