Foggy and I chat and muse away as the afternoon drifts along. The beach is quiet and with the tide so far out it's almost like having it to ourselves. Eventually F. heads off up the beach to use a gym in one of the resorts. This suits me as I always like to have a bit of time on HH beach to myself on my last day there. I wander over to the rocks in front of the Sofitel, the very rocks that give the town its name, HH is Thai for head rock apparently. I park my ass and watch the locals playing on the shore line. There is one particular GG with a straw hat with her friends that catches my eye.

I observe her frolicking in the water, and then she is gone. As I sit there reminiscing about the times I have spent on that beach over the last 7 years, happy memories come flooding back of the various girls I have had in my company near those very same rocks. I get up, take one last parting look along the shore and then head off towards the town, not sure when I'll next be back in one of my favourite spots in Los.

I have been in exile for the last 5 weeks (European vacation with missus), so I have read most of your TR in a few big slabs, I thinks it is even better that way, your picture are as always top notch and evocative of the people and places, as Cracerjack said your love of Thailand goes well beyond LB's, as it does for many of us.
I certainly hope you do get back to LOS in the not too distant future, the forum needs top quality TR's like your's.

I had a chat with a mate's Thai wife the other night with the topic being why I always go back to LoS, I admitted that while I can now easily get my head out of there it's not so easy with my heart...

Hua Hin has a certain serenity that keeps drawing us back into it's tranquil surroundings...which is evident from your excellent reporting BB!

And your next trip is when..?

Thanks for the comments guys, always appreciated. Regarding when I'll be back, not really sure just now. I am playing with a few ideas come winter, so watch this space to see if I pop up in Los at some stage.

Congratulations on a top-notch report BB. I've enjoyed the entire ride and the many photos. You've captured so many aspects of travel to LOS. A highly nuanced and evocative report of life comfortably untethered from the daily routine of life in the West.

Before i forget.....that gg in photo tr2, the one on the left, blue bikini....

....

I hope that you'll consider returning in November. That's my next trip, which will mostly be on and around Phuket, but I'm thinking HH may be on the horizon as well.

My thoughts and I make our way through the almost labyrinth of sois towards the harbour to enjoy the last sunset here for a while. Each soi and many of the bars I pass along the way hold so many mostly wonderful memories of drunken and sober good times and also a few I would like to forget lol.

The small harbour area really is a tranquil place to take a moment out of the day and observe the locals out and about in the late afternoon and appreciate this is actually a real town besides being a resort for us farangs.

On the way back to the guest house I drop into the travel agency a few doors down from the Celtic to check the mini van for Pattaya the next day. Dav26 had used it with May the previous Monday and it had taken them just over 3 hours to make it directly to Patts, all for the sum of 400 Baht each, lovely.

The agent informs me there are seats available on the 10 am departure, so I call Foggy to check if that is ok with him, he is fine with that, so 800 B changes hands and tickets are slipped into my shirt pocket. 10 am is a good starting time, we should be back in Patts by 1.30 pm at the latest, and have a full afternoon there, or so we think. Little did we know at this stage a classic, frustrating TIT experience awaited us the next day.

As we have an early-ish start in the morning Foggy and I decide to take it handy tonight. A quiet one in HH and save our power for the last 2 nights in Patts. We eat and head straight down to Caddy Shack. We have a few drinks and F. takes a fancy to one of the staff, a blondie who's name escapes me. He decides to bar fine her and call it a night, heading back to the Celtic about 10.30. I have a drink with Rinna before heading over to Hornblowers opposite to have some farewell drinks with my Aussie mate.
