I always make attention whether the driver switches on the meter, It must indicate 37 baht at the airport and 35 baht in Bangkok. If he does not, I tell him: "No meter, no money". It always works well.

If the driver asks you what you are going to pay, I always answer: "What is on the meter, plus the toll" pointing by my finger on the meter. This always works.

I cannot believe this has hit 3 pages on how to complete a $15 taxi ride.

Good thing it's not New York subway instructions or the London bus guide - there might be bandwith issues.

I know it doesn't seem like a lot, especially for the guys who are there for just a week and really hitting it hard. My trips seem to get longer and longer, so when I'm staying for weeks or months at a time, I want to start cutting cost from the very start. This includes the airport. Transportation is one of the easiest areas to cut daily cost.

By cutting out tuk tuk's, minimal motor bikes, walking and learning how to use subway and buses saves me big coin over the long haul. Sometimes when with ladyboy it was just as cost effective to take a taxi instead of subway for two. So had to make sure it was meter and the bastards would agree to take us there.

Thank for that Robi, saves us all from a search.

A large number of the prospective passengers showed interest in traveling on the test run of the 28.6 kilometre route (Oct14)Wednesday, according to the authorities, but full-scale commercial operation is not expected until April next year. Further trial runs will be held on Oct 21 and 28 and Nov 4. Daily trial runs will be held from Dec 5 to April.

Was supposed to begin in August, now delayed until December, but we can't expect it fully up and running until April.

Still couldn't find cost on that site, although talk of a premium fare from Airport to the city. Timetables are to be determined.

Collect baggage.

Exit baggage area (with baggage).

Exit Airport.

Go to ANY taxi.

Offer to pay 200-400 for BKK - 1000-1500 for Pattaya.

End of thread.

You Nailed It.

As a famous UK television celeb used to say ''That's all there is to it''

Others make it sound like a solo trip to trip down the amazon in a canoe.

Hey Moo,
Whats your other username? You know the one you used before you re-registered under this one? I just want read your posts under that persona to see if you were as big a know it all with that name. LB69 had a distinct difference from TLF until you. LB69 lacked the re-registrant new posters coming on and talking smack on their first posts.

As far as Taxis go, the way thats best for you is best for everybody? Ever occur to you not everyone is as seasoned as you?, whoever you are (we'll never know you beyond a screen name) Possibly some people don't want to pay 400 baht when they can pay 200. Of course money isn't an issue with you. Did it occur to you that some want a choice of which taxi they take not one assigned?

Some people like myself like to have options. If you actually read the thread you might have seen where several of them were offered with good intentions of helping other BM.

Does it really bother you to see an informative thread continue? Its actually evolved to other transport avenues like skytrain. I want to know about this myself. Will I save money by taking it? If there is two in my party am I better off taking a taxi instead of paying for two Skytrain tickets? Ok we get that it doesn't bother you because your loaded....make sure we all know it....were happy for ya.

Although to be honest… taking cab on BKK isn’t just paying 400 or 1200 BH respectively and off we go. For newbies this is first contact with totally different culture so I do think this is important subject. But… I may be wrong.
