Ladyboy Thief Released without Charge.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, but still well before the sun had arisen, a foreign man walking along Second Road near the Mike Shopping Mall was accosted by a 25-year-old Thai crossdresser who asked if the man would like to come and inspect her unusual selection of charms.
The man was not interested but was forced to become a little more closely acquainted with the crossdresser when he realized she had managed to obtain a 1,000 baht from his pocket. He kept hold of the crossdresser and called the police who quickly came and placed the alleged thief in a matching pair of handcuffs.
The foreign man, who declined to give his name or nationality, was asked to make a report at the local station but when told this could also mean him appearing in court to testify, he decided to drop any charges as long as the deep-throated thief returned his 1,000 baht note.
When this was done, the police still took her to the Soi 9 station where she was required to give her personal details.

LATEST NEWS
Saturday 1st March 2008

Two kind-hearted women came to Pattaya Police Station on Friday Evening and spoke with Police Captain Sureeyar. He was presented with an envelope containing bank drafts issued by the Bangkok Bank totaling just over 8 million Baht. The checks appeared to relate to the purchase of a condominium at View Talay Condominiums located on the Thappraya Road in Jomtien. The two women who work at the Asia Pattaya Hotel off the Pratamnuk Road saw the envelope fall to the ground after a motorbike flew past them. One of the checks was made to Mr. Carl Robert Eckman and the other was made to the View Talay Company. We commend Khun Jamlat aged 46 and Khun Prompan of the same age and Police are now attempting to reunite the checks with their owner at this time.

Immigration Chief speaks to us about Russian Mafia and Uzbekistani Prostitutes.

A story hitting the headlines here in Thailand at the moment relates to the capture of a man known as “The Merchant of Death”, Mr. Viktor Bout aged 41 from Russia who is known as one of the world’s most notorious weapons trafficker. On Friday Afternoon we spoke with Police Colonel Itipon, the Superintendent of Pattaya’s Immigration Office and discussed the problems with foreign mafia figures coming to Thailand thinking they can easily hide from the authorities.

We began with speaking about Russian Tourists and in 2007 an estimated 400,000 Russians came to Thailand. This figure is expected to increase to 600,000 in 2008. There is a concern amongst local residents of Pattaya that the influx of Russian Tourists will lead to Russian Mafia problems in the near future. The Colonel stressed that he has a dedicated team of detectives to prevent this from occurring and with strict rules on registration of tourists at Hotels who in turn inform Immigration on a daily basis, this allows the officers to locate any tourist in a speedy manner if required. We also spoke about Uzbekistani Prostitutes who can often be seen on Walking Street looking for customers. In the past, they have been rounded up but will often be seen back on the streets after paying fines. The Colonel told us that tighter controls on Uzbekistani’s entering Thailand will be enforced and those suspected of entering the Kingdom to engage in Prostitution will only receive 7 day stamps upon entry.

Two foreign bar patrons fight over a bar girl in Soi Beokeow.

Police Captain Sureeyar from Pattaya Police Station was called to a group of Beer Bars located on Soi Beokeow behind the “Made In Thailand” Market in the early hours of Thursday Morning to deal with the aftermath of a fight between two foreign men. Police were met by the victim, Mr. Eric Karlsson aged 47 from Iceland who had sustained facial injuries and was being attended to by rescue workers who were also called to the scene. The victim explained

that a group of patrons in the bar assaulted him following a verbal altercation relating to a Bar Worker. It appears that both parties were attracted to the same woman. One of the alleged attackers, Mr. Shawn Jones aged 34 from USA was arrested and taken to the Police Station pending further investigations where he confessed to the attack as he was unhappy with Mr. Karlsson who had touched the bar girl in an improper manner. The case continues.

Region 2 Police Commander checks Walking Street Bars.

Local Police are currently enforcing a 2am closure of bars in accordance with instructions from Central Government in Bangkok who would like to see all late night entertainment venues around Thailand close at this time.
The Policy appears not to affect the closure of open air bars such as beer bars which are not being closed and remain open sometimes around the clock. How long this closure policy will remain in force is unknown. Over the weekend, Police Lieutenant General Jeatanagorn, the Commander of Region 2 Police conducted a brief inspection of bars along the entire stretch of Walking Street to ensure that bars were closing at 2am and patrons were aged over 20 in accordance with the law. He was happy that bars were complying with the Law and the current closure policy.
