Sinistrus.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
La Bamba along with 6 other well established (GG) bars were closed at 12.30am on Friday evening. 10 bars in Soi Post Office (13.2) were also closed.
Not all bars were closed for the same reason. A force of 10 officers made the investigations that evening and visited all bars in 13.1 and 13.2
The closure was enforced NOT by BIB but the licensing authority under orders from City Hall (the Amphur - Pattaya district commissioner's office). The license issued to La Bamba was incorrect - even though Sam employed a lawyer to obtain the license. The cashier/lawyer and manager will all be at City Hall on Monday to rectify any problems.
This is not the usual "backhander" to capos that you refer to but a technicality not recognised when the license was requested/issued in late December.
Re BIB. Bars are closed or fined for various reasons - this list is not ALL the requirements but the main ones:
Non-Copyright music is only one - the problem 131 had in the early days.
Imported alcohol (duty not paid).
Displaying appropriate license for both liquor/cigarette sales and entertainment.
Security camera with loop recording installed and working
Copies of ID's (not mandatory but advisable)
Conforming to "opening hours" 1.30am/2.00am in Soi 13.1
Leaving door/curtain partially open - a different license is required for a closed in bar.
No visible nudity/obscenity
Sam has been diligent in abiding by the rules imposed.
Re Staff. My post was a listing of ALL the persons at La Bamba during January - it did not imply "staff" nor "freelancer".
The cashier provided the list and I apologise for including Porn the cashier. At least it was comprehensive.
Nicky was working out of La Bamba for the first few days and has now moved to the Kitten Club in Soi 13.4
There are 6 employees on salary and, as I have stated on other posts/threads, supplemented by freelancers.
Every freelancer has to show their ID card and leave a copy at the bar. Freelancers are only permitted to work out of the bar after screening/approval by the manager/cashier. Many have been refused for a variety of reasons.
I will try to keep the list up to date but, as I am sure you are aware, from your own experience, it is difficult to keep track.
If forum members prefer not to be updated with a "who is who" then I will refrain from providing that information. I am unable to provide more personal information as I do not get personally involved with the staff.
Last night
Kwang's birthday party could go ahead because of the good relations that Sam has made with neighbouring bars. You can see from
Kwang's birthday "money garland" how well it went - many people also delivered gifts.
I hope that answers all your questions - if you have any other professional advice please advise Sam as he is the official owner of the new La Bamba.
