Well… i just got quite a experience with ED-visa. My teacher told that guy who is primary suspect for Bangkok terrorist attack was here with ED-visa. He gave false address and now it seems that immigration is tighten they rules about how to prove your address. I went to immigration about 10.00 and got second number for desk. Woman behind desk looked my papers, write something in thai behind my waiting number paper and said to me, ”go home and give this to your landlord”. Nothing more. I was confused and drive back to home to show this note for landlord. She told me that they wanted her to come immigration and guarantee me to live her hotel. She said that she doesn’t have time to go there but she tried to call them, no answer. Then i drove to school to ask what now. Someone from school called to immigration and for her they told that if landlord doesn’t have time, i need to take copy about her ID-card and come there with some thai person. So i drive back to home and luckily Sonya wasn’t left to work yet so she came with me to immigration. Now they had lunch break, so we had to wait 1 hour 15 minutes there, which was used to our breakfast so it wasn’t too bad. Anyway after the desk was open again, we had to wait about 20 minutes when it was our number. Same woman looked now papers again and said, ”you need to go out and take extra copy for your passport and room rent contract. After you have copy, you need to go 2-floor”. So we went out and take copies. After that we went to second floor. Now things start to look interesting and frankly, frightening also. Second floor is for ”international crime investigation” with walls full of ”wanted” notes. I thought that maybe i looked so criminal that they wanted to make extra check for me. Anyway Sonya handed papers for some girl who signed one of papers and gave it to us. Then back to first floor and again new waiting number. This time it was about 1 hour wait. Finally i was from to same woman thirth time at same day and now i had all the papers and everything went like is should went first time. Whole process took almost 5 hours and without Sonya i could’t do it.
So guys, prepare that you have this same process ahead when you go to immigration next time. Take some thai person with you because it makes life easier. Let just say that communication in immigration isn’t their strongest point.
