so boomdraw, what's going on? Is NEP a f* dump or has your opinion changed now that you are seeing some up to date information? As we've recommended in the past, don't be an armchair critic - not being in LOS for longer than 5 years means you really don't know the situation there any more.
If I were to play virtual referee here, I would say in my experience that both you guys are right. Years ago the owners of the Nana Plaza Master Lease grossly neglected the upkeep of the Plaza, which left some bar owners wrongly taking the blame for the rundown state of Nana Plaza. No matter how many times the bar owners complained, the selfish former owners of Nana Plaza did a big fat zero about it. Then followed a whole soap opera of bullshit about how and when Nana Plaza was going to be destroyed and replaced by ruthless real estate tycoons. All of these silly rumours by the killjoys never happened and Nana Plaza yet again had the last laugh. What eventually occurred was not only the renewal of the Master Lease, but a new landlord who cares about the image and upkeep of Nana Plaza.
A serious face lift has transformed Nana Plaza into a cleaner, more modern looking adult playground, which gets flooded with people throughout the high season. Unlike Soi Cowboy the multitude of food vendors, dangerous motorcycles and peddlers have been removed from the Plaza. In a nutshell Nana Plaza is clean, painted, with new lifts installed and rewired, which comes as a great relief to the fire phobics! In addition, recently several gogo bars have been completely remodeled and others have been renovated.
In conclusion, I firmly believe the most important thing is how good are the gogo bars inside and not outside. It is the beauty of the gogo dancers, plus the entertainment that makes Nana Plaza, so popular and not fancy renovations, or vibrant neon lights.
