Tuesday 26.

Having hired Ink taxi service for the night, it felt only fitting for her to give me one last ride in the morning...from my apartment to the Buakhao market as it was Tuesday, it and Friday being the days it opens. I need to get a cheap pair of reading glasses, as having learned from NW it can be an expensive lesson losing a good pair of glasses when out on the razz. I buy a new pair of shorts also, as my other ones are in the laundry. I pop back to my apartment to put on the shorts, slightly tight around the thighs, not a problem then, but it would become a hassle later in the day.

While having our daily meet up, catch up, feed up and strategy plan for the afternoon, we notice one of ours with some GGs outside a salon a few doors up from Chow Soy. Bill paid, we drop by and chat and flirt with her for a few mins, he name is Milla and she tells us it is her birthday party in BlueSky bar 2 on Walking st later in the day. We promise we will go if we are in the area, which seems likely just now as we did not spend much time there last night.

"Every day you have to do something to put chunk of daylight between one night and another, otherwise it all blurs into one" are the words of wisdom from Ninewives, and I fully agree with him. Luckily we both think the same way,and are not so much into spending all our time in bars. Night time is for bars, daytime is for adventure and being a young boy again, is our philosophy. And a bit of photography to boot does no harm.

So after a bit of banter with Milla we decide to head towards the end of Walking street and see how far we can go along the coast towards Jomtien. I figure we could make it some of the way, and then when it gets tricky just head up towards the road and go back to Pattaya. Well that is the plan then. Our first stop is the Simon Complex, to take a shot looking back across the bay. Then on to the pier area where the boats leave for Koh Larn

We walk for a bit along the road, and as it turns inwards towards the hill, we decide it is time to get onto the beach and see how we get on. It is a great opportunity for photography. First off we see some locals collecting some shellfish on the rocks, a little further on there is a couple having their wedding photos taken. The coast is a mix of rocks and small stretches of sandy inlets, usually with a resort backing onto them. The rocks are not slippery, but as they are covered in barnacles they are damn sharp, and if we fall a nasty cut will result for sure. At least the barnacles give good grip under foot.

Every so often we reach a point where I feel it is time to bail out and find the road. The rocks are high and sweep down to the water, making passing tricky to say the least. It takes a bit of maneuvering to get by them, me heading through the gaps in the lower area, NW looking for a way over the top. Between the two of us we mange to make it bit by bit. There is an element of climbing involved, and it is now that the restriction of the slightly tight new shorts come into play, as I find it difficult to stretch my legs when scaling and high-ish rocks. We see the tower on Jomtien beach in the distance every so often, and this gives us a bit of inspiration to keep going and maybe even make it all the way.

Our progress is slow, and the afternoon is drifting by, an hour and a half has passed since we left Pattaya and we have perhaps covered a distance that on the road we could have done in 30 mins. It is getting grueling but NW keeps pushing us on every time I suggest heading inland and look for the road.

Every so ofter we come across one of these inlets, and this is a chance to relax our legs and ponder how long more we can go on. The bonus of these small beaches is the eye candy, and that gives me a chance to mess around with the zoom. NW has cut his hand on one of the rocks, and now there is blood on his clothes which are a light colour.

We eventually come to a resort that goes all the way to the shoreline, and it looks like the end of the line. We cannot pass around it as the water lapping the walls is way too deep, and so we enter the sun lounging and pool area like Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday crashing a hiso party, NW looking resplendent in his blood stained attire.

We gingerly cross the side of the pool, and see what is on the other side. There is a bit of a drop, nothing too high, and so we give each other a wink, jump down, and the resort is now behind us, the voyage continues.

It's now over 2 hours since we started, and finally I recognise the area in the distance, it the furthest I have been when coming from Jomtien. Although it is not a long way to the footpath it is all rock and this final stretch takes us about 30 more tiring minutes to cover that short distance. Finally after a quite exhausting adventure we are in Jomtien proper, phew. It's around 6.15 pm and dusk is approaching, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be stuck out on those rocks when it gets dark.
