Every so often we reach a point where I feel it is time to bail out and find the road. The rocks are high and sweep down to the water, making passing tricky to say the least. It takes a bit of maneuvering to get by them, me heading through the gaps in the lower area, NW looking for a way over the top. Between the two of us we mange to make it bit by bit. There is an element of climbing involved, and it is now that the restriction of the slightly tight new shorts come into play, as I find it difficult to stretch my legs when scaling and high-ish rocks. We see the tower on Jomtien beach in the distance every so often, and this gives us a bit of inspiration to keep going and maybe even make it all the way.
Our progress is slow, and the afternoon is drifting by, an hour and a half has passed since we left Pattaya and we have perhaps covered a distance that on the road we could have done in 30 mins. It is getting grueling but NW keeps pushing us on every time I suggest heading inland and look for the road.
Every so ofter we come across one of these inlets, and this is a chance to relax our legs and ponder how long more we can go on. The bonus of these small beaches is the eye candy, and that gives me a chance to mess around with the zoom. NW has cut his hand on one of the rocks, and now there is blood on his clothes which are a light colour.
We eventually come to a resort that goes all the way to the shoreline, and it looks like the end of the line. We cannot pass around it as the water lapping the walls is way too deep, and so we enter the sun lounging and pool area like Robinson Crusoe and Man Friday crashing a hiso party, NW looking resplendent in his blood stained attire.
We gingerly cross the side of the pool, and see what is on the other side. There is a bit of a drop, nothing too high, and so we give each other a wink, jump down, and the resort is now behind us, the voyage continues.
It's now over 2 hours since we started, and finally I recognise the area in the distance, it the furthest I have been when coming from Jomtien. Although it is not a long way to the footpath it is all rock and this final stretch takes us about 30 more tiring minutes to cover that short distance. Finally after a quite exhausting adventure we are in Jomtien proper, phew. It's around 6.15 pm and dusk is approaching, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be stuck out on those rocks when it gets dark.
