If you alter the settings on the main body from 18 Singhas to 6 Singhas the picture should become far clearer....

Actually Batman, I'm following this thread with great interest, I have been tossing up between the Canon EOS 550D and the Nikon D3100. I have more
decided on the Nikon, both excellent entry level Dig SLR's from what I can make out. So I am paying a bit more attention to Mr. Bumblebee's tips.
Hope you're continuing to enjoy your holiday, say hello to Oh from me.

I would add: a bigger body is better (myth), bigger (censor) size matters (truth)
And for you megapixel whores :-) http://bit.ly/C6lLa

If you want decent pics in low light use the flash by all means but ramp the iso up a bit, shouldn't lose to much detail from it so long as it's less than 3200.
I looked at both Canon and Nikon...then bought a poxy Pentax Kx! only thing in it's defence really is that it uses the same sony sensor as the nikon d3100 but it gets better results for some reason.
I don't suffer singha settings issues, mines vodka settings lol

What's your thoughts on iphonography? Is it the next PNS? What are your fav photography apps for iOS? Android?
My iphone 4S 8M defo takes some sweet shots for (small) screen and with some really cool camera / editing apps easy to get better shots than those miniture-sized-sensor PNS-es, and a lot quicker to edit/publish. Although I love my X10 as my first real PNS, I am using my iphone a lot more, a lot.
Anyway, still can't figure out why Apple hasn't teamed up with Leica, or some other brand to double the depth of the iphone and create a better version than Polaroid: http://photorumors.com/page/3/.
Although FujiFilm filed for a mobile camera lens and sensor patent in 2011. Maybe give it a year+ or so before the PNS market is re-defined. My money is (again) on FujiFilm, Leica is too slow, and Canon and Nikon seemingly not interested or capable (see V/J1 for 4/3s).
