well checked with my insurence company they wernt keen on my going to BKK so I'm just trying to find out what its like over there as I my just chance BKK for a couple of nights
Mutley just go, and don't annoy yourself anymore, and fuck the insurance company, "not keen" doesn't mean "don't go" 2 nights in BKK won't do you any harm at all, they won't even notice your there.
Now just make your mind up are you going or not, its that simple, and FFS take life by the bollocks.

So.... fu*k BKK and fly straight to HKT ... has not been a single day of events there.
In Oz, Virgin are advertising that all flights to HKT have never stopped, and there is no alert published by AUS government for Phuket, so no effect on travel insurance.

Pattaya is business as usual - in fact with fewer Mongers in town you get to be Hansum Man number 1...
I do understand your concerns over Insurance - many insurance companies have small orint explaining that:
"If you choose to visit a country/city/location that there has been a 'Travel Advisory announced' then your insurance may not be valid for events/problems associated with that advisory"
So if you do not partake of dangerous sports (LBs excluded) and do not indulge in demonstrations then you should be OK.
Just telephone the Insurance company and ask.
I traveled to Ceylon (Sr Lanka) many years ago - the day I arrived they had killed 2 Members of Parliament - I had a great holiday and decided never to enter politics!
