Two men arrested following fight outside the Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

Pattaya, October 5 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Over the weekend in front of the Central Festival Pattaya Beach, Police Officers were called in to deal with the aftermath of a fight between two men one of which is wheelchair-bound. Police detained Khun Tosapon aged 34 who sustained an injury to his face and Khun Chockchai aged 78, a Vietnam War Veteran who lost both of his legs during the conflict and now sells sweets and other small items to tourists. He explained that he spotted Khun Tosapon, who was clearly drunk, throwing a glass bottle on the ground. Khun Chockchai approached the young man and told him to clear up his mess as it looked bad for tourists. Khun Tosapon threw a second bottle on the ground and at this point the young man was struck across his face with a metal pipe courtesy of the disabled man. An angry Khun Tosapon left and then returned with a Samurai Sword and before he could attack the older man, members of the public intervened and called the Police. Both men were fined for fighting in a public place.

In this series they refer to gogo bars and brothels on walking street. Any idea what are they referring to when they say brothels?

After seeing all the episodes broadcasted until now I can only say respect to tourist police. In my country police waits for 1-2 seconds for you to calm down, if not… you are in much bigger trouble (like driving twisty road downhill in back of the van handcuffed with loose tractor tire as your trusty companion … ). Really seeing their nerves of steel I can only respect them.

I always spend few EUR to some sort of good cause when I’m traveling abroad, call me stupid or superstitious but until now it helped and I do travel a lot, I promise next time I’ll give my “charity” money to them, they deserve it. 8)

It's my understanding that the people editing this show don't know shite about Thailand. Thus the incorrect comment in one episode about the guy who didn't know he was suppose to pay a girl just because she spent some time with him and another calling Phuket Fooket once, etc. So don't assume the final product understands all the details.
xyzzy is the "magic word" from the first computer adventure game and isn't capitalized

I hear ya xyzzy. It was more of a rhetorical question. I think the folks caught doing the video in the gogo bar should not have gotten their equipment back. It was obvious they were up to no good. And I do see the tourist police in a better light than before. But some of those idiot tourists got exactly what they deserved. Some of that behavior is rather embarrassing.

thanks for the links again paul.
i agree, the couple secret filming should not have got the gear back.
they knew what they were doing, she was an "independant" reporter.
i think the volunteers are being shown in a good light, and has done them a huge favour.
although,
it still pisses me off when you see 12 ladyboys sitting around their table.
their crime- being a ladyboy.

I agree with you Anthony. Ladyboy's have such a bad rep and I think it makes the tourist police feel like they are doing something. I wonder how much of that is self-motivated and how much of it comes from being instructed to do so by Thai authorities. But I suspect in the eyes of a majority of tourists it appears as if they are doing something to protect tourists.

I saw the ladyboy episode a few days ago and was amazed to see a couple of LB's I know.
They were in the litte dance clips. although the suggestion was all the LB's were in Pattaya, in fact the dancers were at Marina Bar in Chiang Mai.
I emailed one of the LB's to ask if she knew she was famous. They know all about it, apparently The film makers told Marina they were making a promotional tourist vid...she is mighty pissed off that they lied
When I were a lad we had the one thing that money can't buy....poverty
