Today on the ground in Pattaya I got the best rate at an exchange booth I've had in what seems like an eternity.

Finally the B50 for one GBP has been broken  :)

This booth offers the best rate of exchange I am aware of, although a few others dotted around town display the same rate. It is located near to Mike's Department Store on 2nd Road, between Boys Town and Pattaya Tai. It is the orange place in the bottom right-hand of the picture below, behind the line of bikes.

One of those others offering the same rate is almost directly opposite Mike's Department Store, almost behind where I stood to take the pic. The reason I crossed the road was to check, as I do every time I make an exchange there.

Just for added interest, there are ladyboys working in the small massage place next door to Mike's beneath the Serene Shopping Plaza sign, but don't get too excited. Worth a gander if you're there though  ;)

saw 50.13 for Travellers Cheques in K-Bank today, think I'll hold out just a bit longer and play the waiting game.

Just hope these gains won't be wiped out by the impending raise in Beer tax!

Nothing really shocking expected that I've heard.  The talk is more for a slow rise, maybe to 33, by the end of the year.

Well the US Fed nuked the dollar again today. I checked XE.com last night and it was showing 31.716 baht to the dollar. At the moment it is showing 31.270. So it's dropped half a baht today and over one baht per dollar since it hit the high a few weeks ago. Of course the real on the street exchange rates are a bit lower than the sites like XE.com show. Hopefully the dollar will strengthen a bit in the coming months so I haven't missed the boat.

The only thing in the close future weakening the Baht is Oil Prices "IF" they keep rising, and this 2 Trillion Baht deal for infrastructure presently in debate failing to be put into "Action" fast. It's only been 2 years they're talking about it after the last Floods.

Maybe another flood to speed up the process?

Was overjoyed when I saw the USD/THB hitting the 32.x, . Started monitoring 4 sources since Sep 6th,

not much of a run, a single day (Sep 20th) is not an indicator of what's to come, but the question is:

are we going to see 32.x mark again?

I hope it doesn't keep getting stronger quickly, let us have some extra pocket money.

The fed is being coy about when they will start tightening up the stimulus. Now they are hinting it could be soon again. When they actually decide to go ahead, the Thai Baht will definitely weaken more. This current strengthening is temporary, as the Fed announce no tightening for the next month.

Also the Thai gov't has started debates on the 2.5 trillion infrastructure bill. When that is passed, as well 350 Billion baht water projects, the Thai economy will start to weaken more with higher debt levels and the inability to repay this debt.
