donnykey: u know what happend the last time they had a coup went 70-1 the last time in 2006 as it was back in june this year when i was there as they keep the airport shut and more tourist stranded the bht is going to spiral out of control and as the polictical criss there gets worce by the day will the bht i doubt the bht will recover after this as they wont have a high season there tourist industry is shatered which counts 6% of there GPP every day that bht will go up and out of control the longer the gov do nothing. i thought u knew u politics donnkey every time it goes to low season the bht towards the pound is up i thought u a vetran in thailand u should know that. from past exp the pound will recover againt the bht once the economy stablise and things settle down.
I know about past experiences and all that ....but in case you didn't know there is a world economy crisis at the moment and that might have something to do with it....since july/august the US$ has stayed pretty much steady against the baht, whereas the GBP,EURO and A$ have fallen....for instance August... 32 bht to A$....now 22 bht....I would think you cannot rely on the past seasonal rate changes for the time being...I'm not happy about it but that's just how it is

FFS, I just knew someone would step in with their opinion on thisA billion is actually a Thousand Million in the UK
My post was said as a bit of fun, something light-hearted to ease the shit in here.
But just in case you didn't read my post correctly, I said "in the UK".

The American Billion (or One Thousand Million) is in the UK called One Thousand Million, surprisingly. The dictionary mentions that the word Milliard means the same thing, but no one really uses it.
In Norway (and rest of scandinavia I think), we use the word Milliard, for one thousand million, and Billion for a million million.
But I always thought that when spoken English, a billion was a thousand million.
Anyway, try Billion Bar in Pattayaland soi 1.
fast fun, I think is a good word for it.

As i see it the U.S. economy is Going bad and the Australian economy, although not as strong as previous is still in good health....Yet the US$ against the Baht remains stable, while the A$ has gone from 32 (when i there in july/august) to 22 now....I'm pretty unversed in finance matters (other than the racetrack)....but i just can't understand this....My last holiday i spent $7000... at todays rate would have cost me over $10000 Not so Cheery Donnykey
spare a thought for me donny.. ive been here the whole damn time watching the horror and struggling! yep.. quite sure ive spent over that mark! i love it.. the continual misconception by every thai that i have big money..sure- really big when you think 100b is more like 5 bucks AUD now..and how easy does one go thru those red puppies. yeah when one dollar is more like ye-sip baht.. pattaya aint such a paradise... but hey it just means me cheap charlie now . Oh well mai pen rai...

A recovery did start to happen and one afternoon I saw 53.90 while in Patong and then UK interests rates fall along with the pound. I'm going through a shed load of money over here and have started to become quite strict with buying lady drinks compared to previous tours. Those bars in Soi Tiger which charge 180-200 Baht are out of touch with the situation we are currently facing
