Phuket is more of a holiday destination, so it will feel it harder than the likes of Pattaya.Phuket is taking the full impact of the decline in tourists, estimated at 20 to 30 per cent so far this year by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The sex tourists will find a way to visit the hotspots, maybe with a bit less baht in their socks but the hardened and luvved up will find a way.

With the exchange rates not so good at the moment it is a dilemma whether to stay or go for Christmas..

stevie, the only problems that i have encountered in pattaya were actually from farangs, and it has only been twice from 2000/2001 cant remember when exactly first went, need to look up old passport, it was two isolated occasions, and the only problem that i have encountered witha thai was with a lb in hi boss, i have posted it on the forum in warnings. you should really try it first, never judge a book by its cover, even try it for 2 days before you go to phucket, honestly you do not know what you are missing
