They began a check-in process and I reminded them that I had booked a non-smoking room. I got a rather rude response that they were fully booked, and I would not get it! The lady told me that she would call other hotels to see if I could have one.

I can see that being an issue if you had booked a smoking room, but not the other way around. As long as the room doesn''t smell of smoke what's the issue beyond the presence of a couple of ashtrays?
Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

Hi Gildas

Not knowing the full story but considering the fact that the hotel knew Tapioca wanted a non-smoking room when the booking was made, then failed to deliver.

What would happen when the smoking room given to the Customer then turns out to smell of smoke?

"Sorry sir we are fully booked" in other words suck it up and sleep in the smoke smelling room.

Not good to hear a story like this, makes me think twice about booking Hotels.

Staff at Majestic have always been good, so think may be time to try Majestic Grande for a bit of lux.

MDS.

I'm a non smoker myself however, with the advent of modern ventalation systems, air conditioning and a good clean I seriously doubt that the room being previously occupied by smokers would concern me too much.
Not too many years ago we never even had a choice in the matter and I tend to think it's much ado about nothing :?

Tapioca is owner of the best LB-friendly hotel in Phuket 8) so I believe him but still...location is good, price too, let's see before I judge. For sure I'll make report like I did in Woraburi case.

You won't be disappointed. Good location, clean and good value. However, if you do encounter issues let me know. I'm supposed to be there my self EOM. :D
I don't mind you coming here
And wasting all my time
Cuz when you're standing oh so near
I kinda lose my mind, yeah

hi guys!
can give you a short summary about Aspen (stay here from the 12th until the 15th of september).
booked a special: stay 3 nights, pay 2 in a deluxe room. at the check inn a very friendly and nice reception lady upgraded me to an executive suite. its huge with safe (big enough for your laptop), you get your own kimono and slippers and a flat iron if you need to bring your clothes in shape and you can host a great bunch of ladyboys (if you like this).
pool is small but nice (with not too much of a sun), also the gym (not big, but new equipment).
breakfast is buffet style.
its a little bit up sukhumvit soi 2 with a good 5 minutes walk to nana (but you have a tuk tuk shuttle service to sukhumvit road every 15 minutes (morning 8 until 10 and evening from 19 until 21).
there is no problem bringing back guests (ladyboys), they only have to leave there id-cards at the reception. Luk

this seems a good option for me, but can somebody confirm that the closest path to get to NEP would be to pass the Raj parking complex ? is the access open 24h ?

Access is opened 24/7 it is about 50m + - from Soi 2 to Soi 4 but, if you are tired you have Guess Bar to take a rest for a second... or two.
