His problem is that he invested hundreds of millions of baht buying the votes and he needs time to get that back, so i cant see him resigning without some sort of deal.

Yes he will try to stay in power as long as possible. This could be a real serious problem for the country.

I know there is a king there but is he the leader of the country or is he like the queen of england?
From the status like the queen. Constitutional monarchy.
But in reality he has more to say then the queen of England. She is more or less just a waste of tax-money.

Forty-three state enterprise labour unions under control of People's Alliance for Democracy organisers have agreed to stage strikes and to selectively cut water and electricity, halt Bangkok buses and delay all Thai International Airways flights beginning on Wednesday. The aim is to help PAD to force the government out of office.

State of emergency
Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej imposed a state of emergency in Bangkok on Tuesday morning. It was invoked under the Executive Decree for National Administration under an Emergency Situation. It is to remain in effect until Nov 30.
The order came after serious clashes between protesters of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship of Thailand (UDDT) that left at least one person killed and about 40 injured.

I was a little concerned prior to departing that the protest action could spread, and affect my return flight.
Glad I managed to avoid it all.
Cheers
