The airports are open now, but there are threats of more closures - probably at the week-end, unless Samak resigns.

His problem is that he invested hundreds of millions of baht buying the votes and he needs time to get that back, so i cant see him resigning without some sort of deal.

Yes he will try to stay in power as long as possible. This could be a real serious problem for the country.

From the status like the queen. Constitutional monarchy.

But in reality he has more to say then the queen of England. She is more or less just a waste of tax-money.

Nation wide strikes
Forty-three state enterprise labour unions under control of People's Alliance for Democracy organisers have agreed to stage strikes and to selectively cut water and electricity, halt Bangkok buses and delay all Thai International Airways flights beginning on Wednesday. The aim is to help PAD to force the government out of office.

State of emergency
Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej imposed a state of emergency in Bangkok on Tuesday morning. It was invoked under the Executive Decree for National Administration under an Emergency Situation. It is to remain in effect until Nov 30.

The order came after serious clashes between protesters of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship of Thailand (UDDT) that left at least one person killed and about 40 injured.

Looks not to good for the nearest days.

Another view on the declared state of emergency:

Maybe this can bring Samak and the goverment down, and get things back to normal?

EC seeks PPP's dissolution
By The Nation

The Election Commission on Tuesday made an unanimous decision to recommend for the dissolution of the People Power Party on grounds for linking to electoral fraud committed by party executive Yongyuth Tiyapairat.

"The Constitution Court will rule whether to dismantle the People Power Party and impose a ban on its party executives," EC secretary general Suraphon Thaveechaigarn said.

Just landed back in Melbourne a few hours ago on a Thai Airways flight.

I was a little concerned prior to departing that the protest action could spread, and affect my return flight.

Glad I managed to avoid it all.

Cheers

So, does this mean i shouldn't book my next flight just yet then?

I dont plan to spend anytime in Bangkok, other than waiting for an AirAsia connection, but are there similar happenings going on elsewhere in the country?

My mum worries about me see...............
