Since 5 days a political group called PAD (Peoples Alliance for Democracy) is forming a rally in Bangkok and other parts of the country.

Last day the thai-police started to use tear-gas against them.

Around 15000 tourists get stucked yesterday at Phuket-Airport, after demontstrants occupied the airport.

For the latest infos have a look here:

Suvarnabhumi is open, Phuket is still closed, but may reopen soon, Krabi and Hat Yai are reopen.

If you want up to date information check out the Thai English language paper websites: The Nation or Bangkok Post

My latest info from the airport in Phuket is that it will reopen earliest at 6 am local time sunday..Fucking mess this. The thais can certainly create their own disasters. Humble from the tsunami no..dont think so.. :?

Yes its starting to get messy now. I dont think Samak will resign unless the King asks him to. This is still a possibility though.

Phuket airport is closed at this moment but hope to re-open tomorrow. If that happens the tourist industry may yet avoid another disaster.

As MrDragon said, these thais are determined to shoot themselves in the foot. They elect a corrupt rabbit and then try to oust him! They have all the sense of a twig!

As gaz says, a coup is not out of the question - I just hope the king has enough nous to intervene for the good of his country.

But even then i doubt that he will do it.

And what happens if he resigns?

A new election is held and the TRT-Party wins again (the whole Isaan is behind them). And the whole circle starts again.

The airports are open again, the railway is still out of service.

The situation in Bangkok is unchanged, most of my friends in Bangkok who i spoke with dont believe that the situation will cool down over the next days.

And i am quite sure that Samak will not resign.

I just hope that the PAD listens to SamakĀ“s words from today: "The people who caused airports to close are causing damage to the tourism industry," he said. "They are smashing our rice bowl."
