Guess they don't do much in the way of light hearted chit chat in Holland...

We've got it in England, but it doesn't seem to have filtered through to everybody yet :baby:

Just different. Right, back to the topic. How are you enjoying the S90? Has some stellar user and pro reviews. I am thinking it may be too small for my hands, not sure about quality of vid output, also the rings mechanism seem great for usability yet bit clumpsy to work when pointing with one hand, adjusting with the other. How are you finding these things? Looks awesome btw, great specs too, price is sweet too. Thanks.

S90. Why no HD. Then again has 800+ at 30 FPS instead of the Panny at 1280 at 24 FPS ...

Bought my first ever point and shoot this weekend. Setting I am thinking of programming are are ISO80/100 with a shutterspeed of say 125 up with say 1 programme at F2.0/2.8 for scene shot and 1 at F5.6/8.0 for close ups. Obviously without Flash that won't work for night time. When I include the Flash in the programme I think it overrides any setting I select... I need to somehow control the strenght of the Flash unit. Tried to adjust the FLASH EV, didnt have the desired effect. Any thoughts?

DutchCowboy, you haven't mentioned what make and model camera you bought. However, typically the flash ev adjustment is NOT a programmable feature and has to be adjusted prior to shoots. It is not retained after the camera is turned off.

The range is limited to around 3-4 meters if this is a typical compact point and shoot. There are external flashes you can buy that are like "slaves" and are triggered by the on camera flash - however if you get one of these, you're probably better off using the DSLR.

RX, thanks a lot for the answer, I guess then just keep a 3-4 meter distance to lessen the effect of the light :D
P.s. And I know I'll get some bash for this ... Leica D-Lux 4

My god, you bought yourself a true »oldtimer« … But since I'm proud user of Panasonic TZ-5 for years now, I know why you decided to buy Leica. :clapclap:

Got a nice tip from a pro friend of mine, add a piece, or two, of velum tape over the build-in flash to soften it up, light will obviously also travel less far...ill try it this weekend and feedback some of the results... getting hooked on this PnS-ing :D

got tired of dragging round large canon dslr and heavy lumps of glass
as well as a compact for nightime

so threw the lot on ebay and bought myself a Panasonic GF1
nice and compact and has interchangeable lenses the 20mm being favourite. Can even get the big fat white belly shots in.

quality is excellent and it also does HD movies
all in alll and excellent little package
