You played it cool and called their bluff. I'm sure there was still a bit of doubt and fear in your mind, but you made all the right moves. So many people would just pay to end the situation, but you stood your ground and it paid off.

Was the girl Malaysian?

I find Thailand to be the safest country I've ever vsiited, in terms of serious crime. If yu have the right attitude you're going to be fine. The only two dangers here are motor vehcile accidents (especially when on a motorbike), and falling in love.

Never been scammed/robbed in Thailand. I had an incident in Manila, which i Described here https://ladyboyforum...ies/?hl=manila

That was mainly due to me being too drunk and not aware.

I was subject to a scam once in Kuala Lumpur, but with a GG. We had some drinks together and she was speaking very good English, and spoke about her good job - she also paid for her own drinks, so it seemed like a regular hook up. The bar closed and she asked if we should go to my hotel or her's to get some more drinks, as she was here on business (she had an extremely convincing story and seemed very legit). We went to my hotel as it was closer.

Once in the hotel, we ordered a couple beers from room service and there was a great atmosphere and we were talking about all sorts of subjects (no touching or anything at this point - just having a good talk and laugh).

Suddenly she changed 180 degrees and started screaming and yelling and crying. I tried to calm her down, but she wouldn't have it, and suddenly said she would only leave my room if I paid her 1000 MYR. I said that wasn't gonna happen. She then said if I tried to force her out of my room, she would hurt herself and call the police and say that i hurt her.

I then had enough of her games, so I called hotel security (I stayed in a big 4 star hotel). Security came to the room, but she refused to go with them. Still screaming and yelling and going crazy. She smashed a beer bottle on the floor in front of security, so in the end they called the police. Police came and arrested her. They checked her ID, and they told me they had previous history with her. They didn't bother to ask me any questions, they just handcuffed her and took her away.

30 min later I get a call on the room phone in the hotel. Some guy identifies himself as Bison or something like that. he says he knows the police have just been to my room. I ask him if he is from the police. He says no. He then says, that I did very wrong in getting his girl arrested and if I didn't leave Malaysia within 24 hrs, I would be in big trouble. I told him that he should just f.ck off and that he found the wrong person to scam, and then i called him some nasty words and hung up.

I then went down to reception and said what happened, but they had not transferred any calls to my room, so he must have known the room number to call straight. Reception was very helpful and asked if I wanted to change rooms, but I said no need to. I stayed another 3 days and nothing happened, so bottom line is that it is very important not to give into these scams.

With all that said, then I always feel very safe in Asia - much safer than in Europe and the U.S. Will be heading to Thailand next month, but no mongering as I will be with my special ladyboy girlfriend the whole time :-)

There will always be a bit of uncertainty if it's a bluff or not, but these kind of people are normally going for easy targets, so once they feel it's too much a hassle, they will normally back out.

The girl had a Singapore passport, which makes sense as she spoke very good English.

I agree, I find South East Asia very safe in general - that's why I keep going back :-)

There's a few scams I have luckily avoided with awareness that are popular in SE Asia.

1. Pump scam. They descend upon an unsuspecting mark and get one lb to touch your chest and hold your arm. Another comes on your other side. While distracted they pickpocket you. Common in Siem Reap.

2. Blow scam. Common in Siem Reap. They give you a public blowjob in seclusion and try to pickpocket you while distracted. It is "free" because you are a "handsome man" haha. They go for drunks. Can be avoided by carrying little to no money or not parttaking.

3. Tuktuk tour. They try to bring you to various sites in said city and their price routinely goes up. Had a kick at the expense of one of these guys as he brought my buddies and I to a buddhist regrowth festival at a local temple and had a slated itinerary for us. Keen on their ways, we slipped out the other side unnoticed and got a complimentary ride. Seen it multiple places but especially Bangkok. Had a cute woman tuk driver bring me somewhere in Krabi once then she tried hyping the packaged tour. Ended up giving her a tour of my package.

4. Fake immigration. One of the funniest scams. Happened to me at Nong Khai but habe heard they have a similar scam at Aranyaprathet. You ask yo go to the border and the driver brings you to a fake immigration office to fake stamp you out and give you a fake visa to the other country at exorbinant rates. I went along for the ride and literally laughed at all those involved. The office is tiny and there is no one there.

These are funny to me, especially thinkong back on them. If you get got though and lose a day of vacation on a stupid ride or lose substantial money or valuables I can imagine this not being too funny.
