Happy New Year 2015

 

Firstly: thank you for your support last year.

Despite Thailand suffering an alleged drop of 20% in tourism numbers, we managed a 6% increase in sales. A pretty decent result i think, and thanks for all your loyalty.

 

Quite what this year will bring: i can only hazard a few guesses:

The world continues its upward spiral of indebtedness - quite how long this can continue is beyond my understanding, but for sure chickens will ultimately come home to roost.

 

The Euro must surely suffer some nasty shocks this year?

 

Will Elvis finally leave the building? If he does, Thailand will go into a prolonged period of mourning, having an inevitable effect on its stuttering tourism sector.

 

Despite these negatives, we have just renewed our lease for 3 years with no rent increase! This will mean our bar prices will not rise (until/unless the government raises alcohol taxes.)

 

And thankfully, we have a large and loyal customer base, built up over many years, who continue to give their support. I'm just so grateful to you for that - some lovely people, many of whom i now consider as friends rather than just customers. I hope you all have a happy, healthy and prosperous year.

And my apologies for the usual pathetic quality. One of my New Year Resolutions is to scrape some pennies together to buy a more Jimbo-proof camera.

That's a great talent lineup by the way! Congratulations on the lease renewal too, glad to hear at least some things remain. My next trip will be in June and this time will skip BKK and head straight to Phuket.

Sat 3rd Jan

 

 Well i suppose this could be the final weekend of Peak High Season. It'll be interesting to see what happens next week, when the world goes back to work after the seasonal celebrations. I'm still optimistic of a high octane start to the year though. 

 

No sign of Patricia last night. So i suppose the monumental effort of getting out of bed four nights in a row proved all too much!

 

You detect a note of sarcasm? 

 They fuckn moan when its Low Season, then when there's an opportunity to make some money, they're lying around in bed day and night! 

 NingNong is going away on a 10 day holiday from next wednesday and i've warned her she may come back to a staff of about 3, unless some of 'em get their arses into gear!

 Sponsors please note: you will start to get the pleas for more funds very shortly. Ya ice, and ya-ba is in short supply, and therefore becoming expensive. As some them can't even get themselves out of their beds during High Season their finances will be running low. You have been warned!
