I much preferred the good old days, 06, 07 etc.

The forums seemed more fun then, people seemed to be having more fun.

When it all became about posting pics and "heroes" and "trusted members" and tantrums over pics and "threadjacking" and people taking their "position" as an "expert" way to seriously that it all went down the tubes.

This thread sums up what went wrong. Some people started to take things waaaaay too fucking seriously.

My expert opinion is that I agree

That thread you mention was a cheeky pock at the ATS forum, which had just started charging for membership, and as a result a lot of it's members had started moving to here. It was kind of the beginning of the end to that fun and free period.

For me the forums are way too tribal now, especially certain other forums which are clearly run with the wrong motives.

Going back to the time you are referring too there were two popular forums, this one and ATS, and although everyone had a preference for one or the other, it still always felt like one large group. The forums would share information and even talk about each other's members (mostly in a positive way). During the LB bar parties people would mingle rather than stand with their forum group. Back then you walked into a bar and guys would ask you your forum name to see if they knew you and had a means to start conversation, now guys ask you which forum you're in allegiance with to decide whether they want/are allowed to talk to you, and then try to figure out which of the many secret handshake sub forums you are in so they know what sad piece of gossip they can and cannot share.

When we gave this forum a face-lift and relaunch of sorts we even received requests from big posters who had moved to other forums. They wanted all their posts to be removed. It is kind of pathetic, as if they have now pledge allegiance to another forum and are against this one succeeding.

The irony is that certain other forums are run as businesses and they want to promote and encourage an 'us' and 'them' policy in order to have exclusives over content and members. It's so counter-productive and damaging to the community as a whole. A lot of forum members today are oblivious to what is happening, or maybe just feel more comfortable having a pack mentality. What many fail to see is that it only benefits certain forum owners for other forums to fail, it is actually of great benefit to all other forum members for several different forums to exist and offer slightly different styles, ownership and censorship,

The truth is that these forums were started to share information as wide as possible and create a home for people who are part of an extremely niche (and even taboo) community. Most members live in communities where they have nowhere other than the forums to talk about their adventures, feelings, and problems - creating tribes and loyalty to certain forums only narrows down the amount of interesting and like-minded people they'll get to meet.

Sadly, while there is money to be made there will be certain people encouraging a pack mentality. Part of the reason the current owners bought this forum and moved it away from the pay site was to NOT an attempt to cash in on its commercial potential, but to rescue a dying forum and carry on with the vibe of a site that doesn't have money-making as it's priority. The forum operates at a loss, the moderators work for free, and the owners are fortunate to be in financial position where they make good money elsewhere and cover the costs and run this forum as a hobby.

It would be good to have the 'fun days' back, but sadly with a lot of guys out there preferring the 'us' and 'them' mentality and their secret rooms within secret rooms, it might be a while before that happens, if it at all does.

Yes, to share information, look at things from a wide perspective. There were people who were TS admirers who had no interest in prostitution who posted and it was indeed a bit more inclusive.

Then it came, those people who simply have to be the expert, who can't see further than their own nose and suck the fun out of everything.

I completely agree about the pack mentality, over at bangkokladyboys you have this bunch of guys who's only perspective on Thailand is that of the Mod (and boy he's a one....) Its the only forum I've ever seen where someone was warned for advising people that they don't have to follow "the rules" and they should think for themselves, explore a bit and find out what they like. (Horrible advice, i know)

As you say, maybe some people need to be told what to do, where to go etc, but if there is one activity that should have some sense of adventure and self exploration, its the world of ladyboy sex...

what is really amazing about the whole is that we are all grown men, and it is so fuckin stupid and childish to have this kind of "competition" within the forum's appurtenance....

I haven't read the other forum in years, but I do remember it being moderated in a manner that was annoying. I once posted an article from a Pattaya newspaper about an apparent forum member over there, who was arrested for making porn movies and it was removed. As if that would make the incident disappear? I'm sure there was a logical reason for removing it, but it was fairly big news at the time, and if the BIB had been using the forum to gather intel on the poster, the Pattaya newspaper article wasn't telling them anything they didn't know.

There was also a brigade of posters over there who seemed intent on trying to track who had what STDs, and I always got a good chuckle from them. Publicly the moderators did the responsible thing and would not allow the naming of names, but I suspect that was part of what was being talked about in the secret rooms.

If one is going to dabble in P4P, that is a risk that you have to take. You can mitigate the risk to a certain extent, but secret forum gossip will not help you prevent catching a STD.

The other thing going on in the secret rooms was likely the sharing of graphic room pics of some of the girls, no big deal, they were just trying to combat the "hero factor".

I always got a good laugh at the "hero factor" too. What is the hero factor? That is when a monger alerts an LB to any graphic pictures or negative comments that are posted about her in an effort to gain favor or stir up mischief.

With the explosion of social media, the hero factor is probably a moot point, any LB with a smartphone can easily monitor their online reputation.

When it turns to negative gossip about particular LBs, there will be repercussions for someone, sooner or later. I think it it is best to discourage trash talk about individual LBs and focus on sharing information geared at creating savvy mongers.

There is no need for secret gossip rooms, in my opinion.

As far as the forums being too cliquish or tribal, I think that is unavoidable to some extent, we humans are prone to that sort of behavior.

Looking over this post, I realize that I'm being a bit tribal myself.

I have yet to have a personality conflict with a poster over here, so I guess I'll claim this as my tribe. :)

I do think that basic mongering tips and travel information is the big draw of a forum like this.

I've noted the preoccupation with "heroes" in several other forums. It seems to me that not saying nasty things about LBs and not posting their pictures if you know they wouldn't like it, would pretty much be absolute protection from such people.

It is much more effective and pleasant to recommend and compliment the good ones rather than to complain about every bad experience which might have been because of all sorts of reasons.

I always believed these "Hero's" are either paranoid delusions or invented by "trusted" members as a smoke screen when they fuck up.

The only posters that ever seem to be the "victim" of Heros are the arm flailing, screeching, paranoid, lunatic, BURN EVERYTHING, picture princess variety that are around. Ive never seen a reasonably rational poster blame them for anything.

Here we go, this is the sort of utter crap that gets posted these days (from another forum)

"I thought this fuckwit deserved his own thread instead of me rambling on about him on the check in bar thread. He inspired this thread through his actions (lies too) with Nooi from Check In Bar. When I first found out it was New Years Eve and I noticed Nooi being especially stand offish towards me. As I have reported on Check In Bar thread that she no longer poses for photos for me anyway. Well I was determined to find out why she was now not even returning a greeting to me. What I found out was rather disturbing.

I have witnessed a change in Nooi over a few of my past trips. She went from the highlight of one trip to a very disappointing bar fine on my next. She used to be the friendliest and most frisky gurl in Check In Bar before she got her bolt-ons. On NYE I called her out on her especially standoffish behavior towards me. She shared with me how a customer (fuckwit) told her that I wrote bad things about her on the forum.

The poor gurl didn't even know what the forum is or was until this sad fucker tells her about this one. Nice going asshole. You can run and tell her this. You have been exposed for what you are. A fuckwit!

After Nooi told me this I was pretty pissed off. I told Mardhi about it that night and it really put a damper on what would have been a great evening. Nooi is aware of other gurls getting more bar fines than her. She began to attribute it to what this fuckwit told her about what I have written on the forum about her. However he put into such a negative context failing to tell her that I have only written about my experiences with her in the bar and what I have personally witnessed. I explained to her she has lost her way with customers and has nothing to do with what I have written about her. I have written about her always looking in the mirror and constantly changing clothes and primping her hair.

I have told her everything I have written. She now knows who has cost her in promotion by not posing in photos over the past few months while others in the bar have countless photos of mine posted across forums and facebook. She has lost out. Others have gained by it and she has seen this.

That has all changed now and she now knows who the bad man really is. The one who portrayed me as the person costing her money when at the end of the day it was herself and this fuckwit who cost her. What gain did he get for telling her I wrote bad things about her. Well you hurt her feelings for one. Does that make you happy you gutless prick? Did you get a freebie out of it? I seriously doubt it. In fact I hope she shuns you now. I could press her further for your exact identity, but knowing the dickhead you are I won't take this any further. You are the most unsubstantial piece of shit there is.

The good news is Nooi now knows you for what you are. As a result of all this Nooi is back into self promotion instead of focused on self admiration. She now has clarity as to what I have really written not what you have told her for some kind of self gain. You are no hero. You are the turd that wouldn't flush. Now you have been flushed out.

Nooi knows the truth now, not the rubbish that you fed her. She knows who is the bad man now.

It was really great last night seeing her confidence back and not checking the mirror every ten minutes. Posing for photographs, and being friendly like the Nooi I first met. She knows that you have cost her thousands. She knows that she has lost out a lot by avoiding the camera and being consumed by her appearance. This has all changed now that she has clarity on who the bad man is.

Do us all a favor and go fuck yourself. You are not doing anyone a favor by fabricating bullshit about any BM's on this forum.

You will notice her reappearing on the Check In bar thread. You will see more of her on facebook now.

Lets be clear. What I'm writing about you is bad. What I have written about Nooi on this forum are things I have told her to her face. What you have told her is a bunch of lies She knows this now."

That's got it all, it's brimming with self importance, paranoia, threats, accusations etc.

Is like to know what people's opinions of that post are? Is the poster the great hero, fixer and defender of ladyboys, restoring their confidence when they are down?

Or a crazed, paranoid, angry lunatic, drunk on his own self belief and importance
I wonder if the LBs in the bar wouldn't prefer if customers came to the bar, had sex, paid and moved on rather than getting involved on their personal life?

Yup!

I love the rage and disgust worked up over this "fuckwit"
Especially as he very probably doesn't exist.

This passage is lovely

"The poor gurl didn't even know what the forum is or was until this sad fucker tells her about this one. Nice going asshole. You can run and tell her this. You have been exposed for what you are. A fuckwit!"

He gets ged a sob story by a working LB, and falls for it hook line and sinker. Who's the real "fuckwit"?

Later on someone chips in with

"I wonder how many baht it would take to find out who the "fuckwits" are . Not much i imagine ,,, probably less than st . So for all the heroes reading this just remember your anonymity may be very short lived if you piss someone off "

Blimey; we have the making ls of a ladyboy forum Mafia here!

Then the mod responds with
"
on't think it would take much to find out who they are. You might only be able to get a first name and where they are from. It cost me a a drink, and two sit downs with Nooi to find out someone had told her I wrote bad things about her on the forum and to explain to her with the help of Mind that this fuckwit was costing her money through his lies. I didn't press on as I was happy to just to have shed the truth of the matter. Nooi had brought up him telling her about forums, but said "I never see" She couldn't read it anyway."

What do these people think that are doing?

That have managed to turn a relaxing night of sex and booze into a series of investigations to find the names of guys (who probably don't exist£ with the purpose or what?
Destroying their lives, families, careers somehow?
Beating them up? Kneecapping them?

This is how far it's gotten with some people in the scene. They might be wise to not get quite so involved with the scene, not try and find out people's names that they either disagree with or have been manipulated into believing are "informers'
