Can't say I'm in love with the new name, but I guess we'll get used to it eventually but it won't be easy. Constantly referring to it as 'formerly Cascades' for years to come.

 

I wonder if they had new signage and the Thais screwed up the spellnig. Mai pen rai.

A few of the bars in Nana have suddenly been forced to change their name. Some kind of licensing issue.

Lollipop is now called Suckers and Obsession is now True Obsession.

I'm not a big fan of the new name (Charades) but as long as the bar is still packed with leggy ladyboys then I'll still be there. As said, several bars have had to take on new names, but a part from a change in signage the bars are all operating as before.

We are certainly in the depths of low season right now. Apart from True Obsessions, every bar I visited on Sunday was dead, as in almost no one in side, I've never seen it so quiet. Still plety of girls/LBs around, but the Thailand bar scene is the quietest I've ever seen it right now.

IIRC, years ago the powers that be went around and forced the bars to change their names to what was exactly printed on their business license.  I don't know if it has changed in the last couple of years but The Long Gun on Soi Cowboy had to put their real name, Lucky Star, on the marque, and the name Long Gun in neon in a couple of other places.

JackG, thanks for that. That provides some insight into the possible reason why the names had to change. I don't know if we will ever get confirmation of the actual reason why, but it makes sense.
