I just got back from a week in Patts and ended up with Herpes!

never had an STD before and I always used rubber, apart from when receiving a blowy.

Its been fcukin painful all week, my bell-end is inflamed with small painful spots(warts?) on the head + I'm pissing razor blades!

went to the doctors about 3 days after I got back and she gave me 2 courses of anti-bots + some anti-viral cream to use on the bell end.

going to get bloods checked in the new year also.

Anyone else had this before?

I'm a bit worried about how long it takes for the spots to disappear!

Sorry to hear about this, and as could be imagined it probably isn't very exciting news to receive after coming back from a LOS trip. Below is a link with some great information on herpes including how long it will take for the symptoms to disappear. Good luck with everything, but at the same time I would not get too worried about. I know, easy for me to say right? But, herpes isn't that big of a deal once you get it under control. Some may never experience a breakout for years, possibly ten or so. At least your knob didn't fall off, now that would suck wouldn't it? Cheer up, and merry x-mas to you. -Swedeman007

Did your doctor actually say you had herpes? .. I ask because the symptoms you describe are not typical of herpes. It sounds more like something Zithromax would deal with, such as gonorrhea or syphilis.

Gonorrhea and syphilis can be cured, herpes cannot.

Herpes can be contracted by skin-to-skin contact with an infected area, you can transfer it to other parts of yourself too. There is no known cure currently as it is a virus, only anti-virals are available to ease or speed-up the departure of symptoms during an attack. It is the same family as chicken pox, cold sores and shingles and not exclusive to the genital area. The worst place to get herpes is in your eyes, so always wash your hands with soap and water if they've been in contact with a suspected or known area.

You may be surprised how many people carry some form of the herpes virus. Do some Googling and have a look.

Herpes, I happened to meet a researcher who specialises in herpes and what she told me shocked me.  There are many different strains and many of the people who have one or other of the strains never show symptoms of any sort and in Australia all blood donated is tested for herpes and for some reason or rather they never tell those who give blood if they have the virus. Probably cause many have no symptoms and you cant do anything about it any way

cheers for the advice chaps - starting to feel better now…when i have a piss at least!

Dixon - yep the dr said Herpes, but no tests were done. She said because I had no discharge, it was highly unlikely to be gonorrhoea or clamidya - but I was given a separate course of antibiotics to take care of that, just in case.

will need bloods checked for syphilis/hiv  :( - hopefully should be ok though.

just hope the big fella is fully functional when it all clears up!

???

What kind of doctor would give a definitive herpes diagnosis without at least performing the simplest of blood tests?

I'd say a second opinion is in order.

That does sound jacked up, I can't imagine walking into a clinic with symptoms of any STD and not having a full battery of blood tests accomplished.

Either he is telling the story wrong or it is an extremely fucked up doctor.
