Pol Pot also had people killed for being good looking. Beautiful girls through no fault of their own were singled out for torture & death. Psychiatrists would have a field day trying to work that guy out. I almost never see really pretty girls in any report of Cambodia. (I mean REALLY pretty) Coincidence? I don't think so.

Let me put your mind at rest Paccers, there are a lot of stunning women here, both everyday and p4p. A few guys have commentated that they are better looking than the Thais, well the Issan brigade anyway. Many are surprisingly top heavy also for such small framed girls.

For anyone who can mix GGs with LBs, I would say Thailand for the latter and Cambodia for the former. They have a gentler attitude also, and tattoo free for the most part.

Some great shots there DC, making me crave for the beach life again. Keep it flowing, good work pal.
We laugh because it is true.

Well done DC. A nice mix of sarcasm & hope makes for an eminently enjoyable report.

I have often wondered how the Khmer's have coped with losing a quarter of their population. And not just any old citizens, Pol Pot killed the smartest & brightest. Everyone with a degree was considered an enemy of the state. Unimaginable how a loss like that would hinder future development of the country. It helps explain the lackadaisical attitude of the locals, after all, what's the worse that can happen after living through that?

My last comment for now, I really love Lasagna in Italy. They do a great job of it. However, off-season in Sihanoukville? You know what I am getting at... when in Rome & all that.

I look forward to the rest of both your current reports. Thanks again for taking the trouble to write.

I appreciate your comments very much Paccie, many thanks 8)

As we know, Cambodia has one of the saddest histories known to mankind and I've downloaded every documentary and movie featuring the country and its history. I adore the place and (most of) the people, despite my friendly sarcasm on certain subjects.

Considering what the older population have endured in their lives they really seem to look forward as opposed to backward. Having said that, many of the tourist attractions do rely on past attrocities which occured when I was just a teenager in England, oblivious to it all.

The younger generations look onwards and upwards and have an attitude of living for the moment and good luck to them all. There are some absolute stunners amongst them, but of course that's subjective, as always.

Regarding the lasagna, I love Italian food, especially lasagna. So the mere mention of it on the menu got my juices flowing, added to the fact previous meals at GST were all of a good standard considering the cost. But it clearly wasn't the chef's speciality and I shouldn't have expected it to be.

Thanks again for chipping in, it's great to see you posting again here :D

Many thanks BB.

I do tend to agree with you regarding your comment about Thai/Khmer girls and ladyboys. As we know there are gems to be found and their attitudes, although feisty in some cases, are gentle and the effort required can be very rewarding.

Many thanks for the kind comments Tel, glad you're spotting and enjoying my little attempts at humour sprinkled into the mix, but they're always accompanied with a big dollop of love for the country and the people in it.

Although it's mostly me filling up this thread I do hope people are reading it. It's clearly a thread without cock-shots and girlie pics, but there's plenty of other guys far more adept at that style of report than me.

I always appreciate comments and glad you're enjoying the pictures and it's good to have you 3 amigos popping in.

Quite understandable. A long trip in SE Asia does leave one looking forward to some comfort food. I have been tempted by something very farang on an Asian menu myself. These days, unless someone recommends it, I would leave it alone. But I have been pleasantly surprised by a local version of Shepherds Pie or Spaghetti Bolognese.

And good news about the stunners. Either they don't get their picture taken too often or I miss the posts but I have seen so few dolly girls from Cambodia. Or maybe I am just hard to please...

Thanks again for chipping in, it's great to see you posting again here :D

You're welcome... :tada:

I commented on the girls in my last post but thanks BB for the assurance. I always admire a pretty face, I might not do anything about it but I appreciate their presence.

Cambodia sounds like a must-see place, I particularly love your reference to their gentler attitude & being tattoo free. Mostly. The mercenary approach of their Thai sisters does wear thin after a while. So many of them run their lives like they were a Wall Street listed company. Nothing matters except making a profit!

And I love that some of them are "top heavy". Many Indo girls are the same, tiny frames supporting massive chests. If you ever have the chance to hold one naked while she is still young enough to defy gravity, it is one of the wonders of the universe. A true sight to behold.

I nearly went to Cambodia during the 70's, when I was very young I should add. I actually crossed over into Cambodia while we were deep in the jungle swimming at a waterfall. I posted the story years ago, how we walked up to a couple of Khmer Rouge soldiers & sat drinking Mekong with them while we played with their guns. And "guns" isn't a metaphor, I was holding a real Browning revolver.

While I am hi-jacking DC's report, I may as well make a proper job of it. Instead of Cambodia I flew into Rangoon in Burma. On the train to Mandalay, I found myself sitting in a cabin opposite a young Burmese woman who had her new baby with her. I was as toey as hell after having spent a month in Thailand & I couldn't help noticing how pretty she was. Eventually baby started to cry & she pulled out the biggest milk swollen tit & popped the baby on. For hours I sat there trying to ignore her as she swapped from one huge norka to the other.

It was very hard.... as the actress said to the bishop... :D

It was now the 5th of May and things were relaxed and staying at the New Sea View Villa was relaxing. On the whole we liked it here, but the time had arrived to start planning our return to Phnom Penh. Today was bus ticket day.

Breakfast as usual at Cafe Mango with the friendly staff, we'd only seen other customers here when it rained, but we liked it.

Another pleasant breakfast, apart from me being on fly-swatting duties, where a health conscious decision led to me having a full English and her choosing the fruit salad.

After breakfast extra snacks followed for the ever-peckish girlfriend.

Being the last full day we wanted to have a walk somewhere we'd seen but hadn't been, which was the rocky part of Serendipity, turning right at the bottom of the hill instead of left onto Ochheuteal Beach.

Plenty of buiding-work in progress and slightly off the beaten track in terms of tourists, despite being only minutes away from everything. A more pleasant and relaxed place with some rock-pools to poke about in.

After the walk and drink along the rocky Serendipity side it was back to the room for a shower and cool down before heading out to purchase the bus tickets back to Phnom Penh for tomorrow.

We decided not to use Paramount Bus services again like we did coming here due to the numerous frustrating stops for pick-ups and drops-offs of locals and the generally slow overall journey time, which was around 6 hours.

For our return journey we chose to use Mekong Express as they promised to go from A to B with minimal stops with a total journey time of around 4½ hours and their timetable suited us nicely.

As is often the case when purchasing something in Cambodia I stand back and let her make the purchase to ensure (hope) Khmer pricing takes place. But Mekong Express have a dual pricing system anyway and the Barang ticket was $7 and the Khmer ticket $6. The tickets were in different colours and languages so it was unavoidable, but not a problem.
