DC, I have fond memories of the New Sea View Villas, and even fonder memories of a local ladyboy I found on Serendipity Beach late one night. I remember their restaurant food was top notch.

Thanks for checking in again Premier, I know you enjoy Cambodia too, as I do.

The girls seem much less ruthless than their Thai counterparts yet just as friendly, if not more so. Plus there's a sense of achievement too as it's not a given across the board that they will actually go with you, so more effort required for a good time but well worth it.

The NSVV has a very nice restaurant but it's quite pricey in Khmer terms, so we only ate there a few times but always good.

Your little friend looks very cute 8)

The GST Restaurant & Guesthouse rent motorbikes too, so we hired another. A fairly new auto cost $7 per day (e.g. Suzuki Step) and manual $6 per day, we rented a slightly older Honda AirBlade for $6 just because I quite like them.

Breakfasts switched between Cafe Mango and GST over the remaining few days. One thing was very clear and irritating about being on the coast were the flies, far more so than inland. You shared every meal and every drink with them and found yourself constantly swatting.

Many drink straws went unused after the first glug due to a fly regurgitating on the end, I'd often turn the straw back on itself into the drink so both ends were submerged. Hardly a catastrophy, but it remained an almost constant frustration when eating or drinking.

Still enjoying your pictorial thank's DC.

I love staying by the ocean and have been taking notes for further trips.

I can picture myself sitting back in one of those beach chairs with some fresh seafood and an icy cold glass of Angkor draught.

I like the idea of the wicker seats and tables on the beach and the cafe's look pretty cool .

You never see much like this in Thailand only Koh Samui comes close with the Thai beds on the beach from some restaurants .
Where your friend you ?

Many thanks for your kind comments Uncle, glad you're enjoying.

Despite the many sellers on the beach, who are generally a friendly bunch and move on if you don't want what they are selling, an hour or two sat on those wicker chairs on the sand is very pleasant with drink in hand and the music from the bars is at reasonable volume levels too, not loud. We enjoyed it.

Following our usual breakfast in Cafe Mango, where we waited for the rain to let up, we wanted to make more use of our rented AirBlade (from GST for $6 per day) and see more of what our surroundings had to offer, starting with Phsar Leu, the main market in Sihanoukville Town.

It is pretty much like an aircraft hangar with a solid concrete floor and make-shift tables and stalls, nothing fancy. But at least it was mostly dry, which was just as well as the heavens opened soon after we arrived.

Being the main market in town, Phsar Leu had all the essentials,
including clothes, food produce, eateries, cosmetics, kids toys and toilets.

Thanks PTB it's appreciated and you're more than welcome 8)

Perhaps later in the year when I'm back in Khmerland and you decide to pop over for a visa run or a side-trip, I'll give you a bit of a tour and show you some of the nitty-gritty first-hand.

Once we'd left Phsar Leu we scootered off in the direction of the Port of Sihanoukville, via Victory Hill, just to have a look.

Victory Hill is the place where Sihanoukville mongerer's would probably gravitate towards, or at least should try. Numerous hostess and girlie bars can be found here with "Taxi Girls" present, plus many guesthouses around to cope with the over-nighters. With a ladyboy companion already in tow I did not sample any of these bars.

Example: The Tropicana Bar

If you choose to stay in the Victory Hill area, which I didn't, you may feel a bit confined during daylight hours unless you rent a bike or pay for rides to the far less mongering and more populated Ochheuteal and Serendipity Beach areas, but the Victory Beaches are not too far away and an easy walk, but nowhere near as populated with people, bars or food options.

Canby Publications is an excellent resource for info on Cambodia.
