Yes a forum can be limited when approaching this type of post. My aim is to encourage and supplement any BM's material who are studying Thai. Plus it helps newbies and may save some time in the initial stages of learning a language with posting a couple of tips, which are for all purposes merely obiter dictums.

Easy = ngâai ngâai.

Difficult = yâak

Grammar Note:

Possession

Baan khun, means your house, or more literally house of you. So possession is indicated by word order, the possessor follows the thing possessed, omitting of and an apostrophe s.

Language Tip:

Even if Thai's are very patient with our efforts to speak Thai, believe me they are sick of arai na (pardon) so try this instead:

pôot eek tee dai mai?

Could you say that again?

Great thread.
Here's a little phrase I use frequently when I want a room full of yaking LBs to be quiet;
poom poo passa Thai die

Roughly translated "I speak perfect Thai"

They don't know whether you're serious or not. Either way it becomes very quiet :D
I don't mind you coming here
And wasting all my time
Cuz when you're standing oh so near
I kinda lose my mind, yeah
