One thing I've never figured out is when I get on the bus in the afternoon I'm perfectly sober but when I get off at my Soi at 3am I'm absolutely shitfaced....
Hey Petesie, I know one guy who was so shitfaced that he fell off the back of a baht bus resulting in a cast on his arm.

I wish you'd been with me my first visit to Pattaya. Not that it's a fortune but I was happily paying 100 baht per trip with no real idea where I was going.

A good question and a great explanation OTS.

Nevermind mate you all set for this trip now.
I will not be able to go to LOS for the foreseeable future. But hope to make back one day

This, I think, use to be a lot more true than it is today. I watched some buses going to Jomtien a few days ago and less than half of them had the white stripes. Saw some buses in Jomtien that had no stripe. Also some with white stripes will do the Beach Road/2nd Road loop. You have a somewhat better change they are going to Jomtien if they have a white stripe but but it isn't fool proof. One thing to note which I only learned recently is if you look along the bottom of the bus if it has 2 white stripes along the bottom edge it is working the Jomtien circuit.
Been going for years and it was only recently someone mentioned it to me after I complained about never knowing which route they were taking !!! That Jomtien route is the 2 stripes...
I never really was sure about the 10 baht/20 baht fare thing to Jomtien until I paid a driver with a 50 baht note and he gave me back 40 baht. A lot of people say pay with the correct change. I pay with 20 baht notes in Pattaya as often as not and they give my change back. YMMV

That was the most unfreekingly detailed explanation I have ever read. Absolutely perfect. Guess I never much thought about it. Just followed the crowd and jumped on then jumped off and handed the man my 10 baht.
And wasting all my time
Cuz when you're standing oh so near
I kinda lose my mind, yeah

you can pay a baht bus to take you somewhare special like a taxi?

Yes, in fact that's how I end most of my evenings. Just give them the name of my hotel, pay 100 baht and be done with it.
And wasting all my time
Cuz when you're standing oh so near
I kinda lose my mind, yeah
