Day 6
The wake up call at 11am, was a very rude awakening today. Really need to catch up on some sleep somewhere. Stevie picked me up from the hotel, and was decided that instead of the planned trip to Ekkamai, and the bus to Pattaya, that we would in fact take a taxi. I will leave him to tell whether the hotel was good or not, but it certainly wouldn't be a place I would want to spend much time. Soon after, we were then checking into my place, the Mercure Pattaya, which was a lot more agreeable. The rack rate of around 4500 baht is high, but I got it for 1200 baht a night, and with nice big room, modern furnishings, and a fantastic pool downstairs, I feel it was money well spent. We headed out, with no idea of bearings, or where the hell anything is, and spent the remainder of the afternoon, hunting down bars to visit later on. We retired around 5pm, where I went for a swim, and a hop to the laundry and 7/11, before heading to Pooks Swan House Bar nearby. At 8pm, a real good atmosphere, with plenty of room to sit, good selection of LB's, and also the open air aspect was a nice change to Nana Plaza's "behind closed doors" way of operating. Overall, a really nice start to proceedings, and nice to know of LB action relatively local to my hotel. Baht bussed to Soi 6, where we checked out an empty So What Bar, and then Hi Boss bar. What can I say.....lets just say its no C&D's. Dark, dingy, nowhere to sit properly, and shit music. But we went there to hook up with Tik (Coco) of C&D's origin. Difficult for me to judge from afar but perhaps you should have given Karl and the Ezy crew another chance to become aquainted.
