Extensive tests underway following appearance of large hole on the Sukumvit Road.

Pattaya, November 30 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Last week we reported on a hole in the Sukumvit Road which appeared and was lucky not to have claimed any victims. We can now report that the hole has been repaired and extensive tests are now underway in conjunction with the Pattaya Water Station to understand why the hole occurred and the possibility of another hole appearing in the future. Using radar equipment to analyze the foundations of the road, it was determined that the installation of water drainage pipes across the Sukumvit Road had caused the influx of water around the space created by the pipe. The sand layer of the road was weakened to the point where the hole was created. Because of this, checks of the entire area are now underway and further roadworks will occur if similar problems with the sand layer are found elsewhere. The work is being personally overseen by the Pattaya Mayor, Khun Itipon, who assures motorists that the checks will be made as quickly as possible and the man who was slightly injured in the original incident last week will have all his medical expenses covered by the private company who were contracted to re-construct the original road.

Deputy Transport Minister joins the investigation into fatal boat crash.

Pattaya, December 3 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : We have an update now on the boating accident which occurred on Wednesday and resulted in the death of two Chinese Tourists. Khun Gergoon, the Deputy Minister of Transport came to Pattaya on Wednesday Evening to investigate the accident. We can reveal that a total of 15 people were injured including 3 from England, 1 from Pakistan and two Chinese Tourists who were seriously injured and remain in Hospital at this time. The two boats involved in the accident have been recovered and it has been found that the drivers of both boats hold no licenses to transport members of the public. Both boats were also carrying too many people and therefore there would not have been enough life jackets for everyone on-board. Pattaya City Hall officials are now being scrutinized and asked why proper checks on these commercial vessels are not taking place. A dedicated team of local government officers are now investigating the accident and are expected to issue a full report on their findings shortly.

German Bar Owner stabbed to death in Jomtien. German murder suspect arrested.

Pattaya, December 4 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Just after 7pm on Thursday Night, Police Captain Patipat from Dongtan Police Sub-Station received an urgent call to attend the Kanya’s Romantic Garden Bar and Restaurant located in Soi Chayapreuk in Jomtien to investigate the apparent murder of the German Owner. Rescue Services soon arrived, but were too late to assist Mr. Peter Alfons Schroth aged 48 from Germany. He was lying on the ground at the front of the main bar located at the rear of the building. Mr. Schroth had been stabbed 5 times, in his back, his left side, his stomach and in his chest and was pronounced dead-at-the-scene. Khun Galaya aged 48, the wife of the victim, saw the attack take place and revealed the name of the alleged attacker as Mr. Timo who is also a German National. Khun Galaya explained that the pair entered into a verbal altercation, during which Mr. Timo produced a knife from his bag and attacked Mr. Schroth. She was unaware of the reason behind the argument but did suggest that Mr. Timo was a drug addict and would ask for money from the victim on many occasions, presumably to purchase drugs.
Police were given the last known address of Mr. Timo and were able to locate him at the Chaopraya Resort in Soi 17, South Pattaya. Mr. Timo Bloch aged 30 was arrested and found to be carrying a single Yabba Tablet and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. The suspect was taken to Pattaya Police Station and placed behind bars for a time to allow the effects of any narcotics to wear off. He is expected to be charged with murder pending further enquiries on Friday.
