I always enter the forum via 'View New Posts' and just saw this thread title appear. I sighed and thought "What plank started this?" .. Me, over 6 years ago!
Ah well. Even now I see the OP more as a point of interest due to it being from a ladyboy's perspective, rather than raising the age old question again. But even so the inevitable topic arose.
I is what I is and ain't no name or label gonna change that
Accepting that the original piece in Stick was penned by a Thai ladyboy, the main problem as I see it is that it's filtered through the perspective of Thai gay/trans culture. That's why she has these rigidly defined and ridiculous categories in the first place. Maybe her classification percentages have some basis in her experience of her own culture but I can assure her that they have absolutely no relevance to gay/trans culture as it is seen in the West. Not that her perspective is "wrong" but that it's just one of many possibilities around the world.
The writer also completely gets transvestite culture ass backwards. It is both a straight and gay fetish but I've never read anything that supports the statement that they secretly desire to be women nor have any sexual attraction to women. She pretty much get the femdom fetish wrong as well. I think her whole post (what's quoted at least) is basically complete hogwash...even in the Thai context as I have experienced it over the past 15 years.
As to who am I...probably bisexual with a pronounced preference for transsexual women.
