can My First Trip to Patong by WalterRL be nominated ??

this must be the best report in the history of lb 69..........
his report should be a required reading of all newbies....

I vote with AB, Walters trip report is a modern day Classic, sets the Gold Standard for future reports. Deserves to be included on 1st ballot!

Could you explain why?

In a year's time the report won't make sense, plus it contains very little information or facts for future value.

It was the enthusiasm of some of the forum members who got involved in the thread which provided the excitement at the time (for some), which has since passed.

May I suggest you just bookmark it for yourselves.

When did trip reports become a repository for fact and information. Trip reports are supposed to convey the experience at the moment it occurs. Yes, a lot of BM's got involved in Walters TR but isn't that what a trip report is supposed to do? Walter id not have to report as he did he wanted to let everyone in on his experience. This report is a report of distinction regardless if placed as such.

Not at all. Trip reports can be done at any point !

It was a good laugh and great to read but it is not very informative as far as TR's go. Certainly nowhere as good as BB's Comfortably Numb TR.

As far a i understand it is up to the Moderators to accept a nomination from 1 of the forum member's so let them decide if THEY want to nominate the TR of Walter or do not want to nomimate ...

if someone comes with rules of nomination then show me these rules because i am not aware of any of such rules to which a nomination must comply ....

whether i participate or not is completely irrelevant IMHO , for me it was a damn good trip report with a personal touch .... that had some different approach and real time reporting that made it unique.

Different TRs appeal to different guys. Some FMs like a non stop action one, with lots of bedroom shots and raunchy bar action as that is what a trip is to many guys.

On the other hand along with the above mentioned bedroom and bar shots other FMs like to see additional aspects, such as the various locations in which the report took place along with information about the area that may be of interest to the reader.

Personally I think most would agree a well balanced TR should generally include:
- Originality
- A clear layout with short paragraphs so as not to lose the reader with large chunks of text.
- A good mix of day and night photos to accompany this text and help bring it all alive.
- Information, regarding the girls, bars, transport, accommodation, eating, prices, places worth seeing etc and external links for those who want to know more about a particular place or location.

When judging if a TR should be noted for distinction I think these points should be taken into consideration to see if most have been included in the report

Bumblebee,

You said it already , different threads appeal to different FM's and indeed you explained your Personal views on how Threads of Distinction should be.

As i said earlier , it is not up to us but the Moderators so let them decide to accept the nomination of Walter's thread or not.
