i am now checking my facts as i have a clear head but here is a point as well this law in uk so i dont think i have a bad argument as well
The law says it's legal for you to consent (agree) to have sex from the age of 16. In Northern Ireland, you have to be 17.
But it's not quite as simple as it sounds. Although a girl under 16 isn't committing a criminal offence if she has sex, the boy she's having sex with is breaking the law — even if she has agreed to have sex with him.
Gay sex is legal if you are 16 or over in England, Wales and Scotland. In Northern Ireland it's 17. And 18 in Jersey.
Even if you are under 16 you have the right to get confidential help — you can seek advice about sex and relationships however old you are.
i do know at moment they are thinking about taking it to 18
and thailand is 15/18 i did check it
and here is a really good sourse of information for age of consent
http://www.en.wikipe.../Age_of_consent
what is the legal age for sex in thailand

gareth75, just keep it simple for the guys who are visiting the LOS or any other country that has a treaty similar to what Thailand has agreed to. There is no need for them to look up the age of consent on the internet.
Forget the 16-17 year olds and go with those p4p workers who are 18 or over. This will help keep you out of trouble.
Don't forget there are also scams to trap unsuspecting sex tourists or ex-pat workers to have sex with an underage person (whatever it may be in your home country or in Thailand), and then blackmail you for $$$$ or worse.
The risk is not worth it and there are plenty of attractive p4p workers in LOS who are 18 and over.

the other topic i want to find out and i bet this has happened to plenty guys going out with lbs
when u been in a relationship with a lb for a long time and decide u take it to the next level say marry etc where i from u can legally marry an lb or have a civil partnership which is the best way to go about it?
i from uk to bring her to the uk i know her well enough and 100%trust
we tried before with a simple tourist visa just to visit and see if she like it etc but it was refused because she lied on her application she not tell me she appiled to german embassy before about 2 year ago with someone else and the uk embassy found out about it through her passport and let me know this
cause of the question on the application form have u ever been refused a visa she said no and if fact had been refused by another embassy
the embassy was happy about my work and enough money etc and all her details and papers etc because they not belive her intentions are good enough to come to uk because of this
but did say to me that i could re apply for visa in 6 months and as long she tell them everything not a problem so i want to try again
but i dont think she will get because i think she been blacklisted on there computer system i know how they are in uk full of noncence
but i though of maby if i go to thailand and get a civil partnership there i can try a partner visa or something like that but i fear her past with the embassy may cause a problem i did lose a lot money
through the whole application process as we used one those visa companies in thailand so i not sure if i want to go through with it again what the best way to do it ?

gareth75 - that is what you should have wrote in your original post, that to avoid problems don't take anyone under 18! Much simpler to understand, and excellent advice for the those visiting LOS.
With regard to marriage - it has been discussed in this Forum before and on others. LBs have no legal status to marry a male in Thailand, since same sex marriage is not legally recognized.
You should know from your previous visits to Thailand an lb cannot change gender on her official ID, passport, birth certificate, Thai ID card, driver's license. So all these documents will indicate "M". There are no Thai civil ceremonies that have legal status between males or lbs and males.
There was an effort to have the law changed for lbs who have had the SRS operation, but unfortunately that all stopped with the recent elections and will have to start again from the beginning. Likely be a long time before this law is considered again.

gareth75, there is such a thing as a temple ceremony. This is the Thai Buddhist marriage ceremony that many lbs go through with their partners - however it carries no legal standing in Thailand, and I doubt that it would in an outside country.
Typically the wedding or civil partnership must be legally recognized in the country you have the ceremony in - before it is recognized in the country that you wish to immigrate to.

gareth75, understand that this temple marriage ceremony has no legal standing in Thailand - you better check further before you go ahead that it is acceptable in the UK for immigration purposes. It isn't even recognized as a civil partnership in Thailand.
Things that must accompany the application are proof of long term correspondence between the two partners, and visits to the country of the intended partner (you visting LOS).
The temple ceremony can be held at any temple, you just have to ask your partner which one she would like to use and pay a fee to the temple to perform the ceremony.

i did all that before i know what to submit for a tourist visa etc but all of it is changing in uk they are changing the tourist visa from 6 months to 3 months so it does make it more easy as long u enough money and have accomadition and confirmation of where u staying and someone sponcer her for the trip and u have to now in some cases put a bond of £1000 for the aplication where they think there might be a problem thats not problem for me it does make it more simple process than before i pefer to do it as a tourist visa because she might not like it for thai uk is very cold place and then if everything go ok make a new application for marry visa in uk i think that a beter way to do it

gareth, some of your posts conern me about you. If the legal age in a country is 10.. are you going to go looking for 10 year olds.. have a little morality and decency.. 18 should be the minimum age where it's acceptable to engage in a relationship with another.. Instead of writing 20 crappy posts.. try spend time just to write one decent one.
