This low season is particularly low - since the coup the US have removed all funding to Thailand (they refuse to recognise the interim miltary Government as democratic).

This has reduced the number of US ships visiting - when they docked they used to do many humanitarian projects and needed some R&R after a hard days work. All good customers.

That's the trouble with foreign policy being set in stone, and inflexible. US government policy is not to recognize any government that comes to power through military force (unless of course it's the force of the US military), regardless of the reason. They've continually failed to recognize Gen. Musharraf's progressive moderate government in Pakistan (fixed elections etc) even though he took the reigns in order to avert an imminent nuclear war; and then by forcing his cooperation in the campaign against the Taliban, they've all-but-ensured that whatever government replaces his, whenever that happens, will be a hard-line fundamentalist government.

I don't know the story with the coup in Thailand, but from what I've seen the general consensus seems to be that it's benefiting the country. I'm all for democracy of course, but people south of the border and their bed-buddies north of the border and across the pond do need to be a lot more flexible in interacting with all types of governments, would-be governments and other organizations.

The solution is simple.

1) Prize money reduced to

1st 3000
2nd 2000
3rd 1000

2) Put a uplift on drinks of 10 baht for the evening or charge guests a flat charge of 100 baht. That along with sale of drinks and BF's should easily cover costs.

3) Age - under age a big NO. So check each ID of all contestents - better still ask one of the Thais to check the ID and keep the ID's, like hotels do, until they leave.

Since I announce in Thai language the money prizes of the contest and being distribuied to all over the bars in Pattaya I cannot change the promises amounts.
Also, I don't think is fair to charge more 10 baht to the customers - maybe some of them don't appreciate that
If I'm alone on the biz I don't hesitate one second to sponsor the party. I'm waiting my partner reconfirmation to do so (Yes or Not).

ANNOUNCEMENT

The tomorrow’s party – MISS MICRO SKIRT will be canceled.

Due the recent crack downs made by the police in several places, especially in Ladyboys Bars, I was advised this morning for someone “inside” for “don’t do it”.

Probably the publicity made about the event, not only on the web either in all the bars in Pattaya were too much (this time), as I honestly was expect an enormous crowd.

Hopefully having your understanding, my sincere apologies for those who had made plans to be here and to the ones out there waiting for the Party’s report and respective pics.

I do not post much on these forums but I am currently in Pattaya and I'm willing to sponsor such an event with 5000 Bath if you decide to hold it before I leave (early August). But as I said I understand your reasons and respect them. Just send me a PM if you change your mind.
