The only reasons for cancelling would have to be:
Too many contestents
Pattaya shops have run out of Micro skirts
Weather forecast is cold - too cold for cheeks
You have run out of viagra
All contestents have already been BF'd
Your doctor has advised against it
Pattaya police are worried about crowd control
The judges have rigged the result already
Really disappointed - I had cancelled a trip to BKK just to be there.
Hope all is well.

First of all thank you to write again in my diary
Only tonight I'll decide...
2 reasons if I have to cancel the contest:
- I was counting about a sponsorship to help me with the prize money for the winners (1st-5k, 2nd-3k, and 3rd 1k – total 9k) to make the party possible, which was canceled...
- Someone advise me about the danger of having some underage girls on the contest.
Both reasons could be solved until tonight .. if not ... NO PARTY , which is a shame, due the incredible enthusiasm of the attenders either the gals...

The solution is simple.
1) Prize money reduced to
1st 3000
2nd 2000
3rd 1000
2) Put a uplift on drinks of 10 baht for the evening or charge guests a flat charge of 100 baht. That along with sale of drinks and BF's should easily cover costs.
3) Age - under age a big NO. So check each ID of all contestents - better still ask one of the Thais to check the ID and keep the ID's, like hotels do, until they leave.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for the daily updates to your diary and the wonderful photos. I don't usually comment, I normally just gawk instead. But just to let you know, your diary helps me make each day pass until my upcoming trip to the LOS in early September. I have been drooling over the photos of Alis and am hoping she will still be there when I arrive.
My plan is to get the girls warmed up for Batman's arrival.

Just saw your comment re 300USD. Truth is that many bars struggle at this tme of year - low season. They still need to pay the staff but far less visitors.
Many GG bars have 12 or more ladies working in Soi 7 and 8 and not ONE customer in sight!
The maths is simple.
50K baht per day - drinks average under 100 baht = 500 drinks that is a lot of drinks to sell per day.
BF at an average of 300 Baht = 167.
poor girls would be bow legged!
Many people are under the illusion that bars are very lucrative - the truth is the owners make a living but enjoy their work.
They must pay staff, rent, police, utilities etc.
It i not possible just to convert into USD - income and expense here is in Baht. That is why visitors/tourists find Thailand so cheap - your money is "big" over here.
This low season is particularly low - since the coup the US have removed all funding to Thailand (they refuse to recognise the interim miltary Government as democratic).
This has reduced the number of US ships visiting - when they docked they used to do many humanitarian projects and needed some R&R after a hard days work. All good customers.
So there are many factors that have made this June, July difficult for all kinds of businesses. Fortunately LB's is a niche market and lots of guys do manage to still visit.
High season is different and bar owners hope at that time to fill their "treaure chests" to ride out the inevitable low season.
Hope that explains a bit about the economics of the bar scene.

OK... Hoping ladyboyrock got the message I'll continue with my diary, even with the notice of the lack of responses on the last few days.
Don't wanna spam your thread unless I've got something to contribute. Anyway, sorry to hear about someone snatching Cat so soon after she joined you, as she was one of my faves at your bar.
As for the contest, I'm sure you'll find a way to pull it off. For the prize money, you could, as someone suggested, just lower the amounts, or set aside a percentage of drink sales and barfines for the night or the week, it should add up. In the future you could offer 1 lucrative prize, and like promotional item packages or that sorta thing as second and third prizes (for example, I'm a DJ and musician, and I sometimes donate a few CDs for contest giveaways and stuff, as it's a good way of promoting myself). Also keep in mind your low-overhead revenue sources, like barfines and drinks (eg. give a 1000 baht free bar tab as a third prize or something; that way, most of the loss is on the markup, as the overhead is significantly reduced through quantity purchase).
As for concerns regarding age, is it just a general concern, or is it a matter of a particular girl who wants to participate but is not yet of age? If the former, definitely check IDs thoroughly, as you would for an employee, as a requirement to enter the bar. If bar patrons are carded routinely regardless of the activity they are engaging in in the establishment, then I'm sure there's some law in place regarding minors in places of alcohol consumption or something like there is here; as good an excuse as any to be extra cautious. On the other hand, if it's the latter, then perhaps some sort of special accommodations could be made, such as having her compete outside the bar, unless there are laws specifically prohibiting participation of a minor in a contest, or specifically in a beauty contest or the like.

Rossco's solution is a sensible one in view of the proposed sponsorship deal falling through and in any event I thought the initial prize fund looked too ambitious/generous.
You know how popular your party nights are Franck and everybody who attends shall spread the word about the marvellous little set up which is Club 131.
