because its not old information, i am a regular poster on the 2p2 poker forums, i read the thai thread daily there, every week new guys move over and report their experiences, lots of time opening a bank comes up

you can go on thinking that your experiences are the only true experiences if you like, some of us are smart enough to realize that the world doesnt work that day

You've never opened a bank account in Thailand, but yet you are telling people to walk from one branch of the same bank to the next, "because each branch has its own rules."

That's bullshit and I called you on it.

After reading a few of your blog posts, I have extremely low confidence in your ability to relay accurate information.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you were in Thailand?

i have spent multiple months there this year, 3/4th of the time in bangkok

you may think it is bullshit because your experiences are different, i have been reading the thai thread on 2p2 for years and have heard at least 20 people say what i said in this thread...........

but you can keep thinking that you know everything if you like.... its clear that no matter what anyone says you got it all figured out

I don't know everything, but I think I have you figured out. You read little tidbits of information from various forums and regurgitate it as your own advice, without regards to accuracy or the age of the information.

A purveyor of shitty advice is what you are.

Thanks, I will take the last word on this.

What some posters might be confusing as each bank branch in the chain. "having their own rules" is that not everyone in a smaller branch is authorized to open new accounts for foreigners.

As a matter of fact, when I opened my account with Bangkok Bank last month, I had to go back when the manager was there because the two bank employees who where in there at the time did not have the authority to do it.

Simply stating that "each branch has its own set of rules" is flat out wrong and paints a misleading picture of the banking system over here.

I had to fill out several forms and they made multiple copies of my visa and rental agreement. Plus if you are an American, they even make you fill out a form that goes to the IRS.

It isn't some crazy banking system in Thailand where there are rogue branches doing what ever they want, like your incredibly brief and out of context post indicates.

My advice to people is to visit a branch, find out what they want in terms of documentation to open an account, go collect those documents, then go back to the same branch.

I would not advise wasting time going to several branches trying to open an account with only a tourist visa.
