Volleyball - monday 3rd Nov

 

Due to a clash with the ASEAC beach games and the Patong Carnival we had to switch venue to the Paradise Hotel recreation ground on soi SaiNamYen. 

 A rather scruffy bit of ground, and not easy to find, but i actually rather enjoyed the privacy, without having gawking tourists around. The shrieking and vocal support drew quite a crowd of curious thais from the neighbouring sois. Until the rain became so persistent, that is!

 

There were 2 matches of 3 sets to qualify for the final.

 

First up were Team Simon Cabaret vs Team NingNong. 

Team NingNong cruised through due to sheer power, but Simon provided some definite glamour:

Team Jimbo played a thrilling match against Tootsies, just edging throgh in the 3rd set 25 - 23

By now the rain was bucketing down, and had everyone running for cover. Therefore my apologies for not getting a picture of Tootsies, except these rather distant shots of the action....

So, the final was between the horrors of Team NingNong vs Team Jimbo.

By now the rain was stair rods, and i think everybody just wanted to get it over with. Team NingNong powered their way to a 2 set victory, and we all raced off to get changed into dry clothes.

Weds 5th November

 

Miss C & D Beauty Contest

 

 

I suspect the beauty salons around town will be busy today as the girls prepare for tonight's much-anticipated event.

Scheduled to start at 9pm, which probably means it'll actually get going at 10pm, lol, you're very welcome if you're in town: plenty of glamour, and a few bruised egos at around 1 a.m. i think !

Saturday Night

 

 I noticed a few more bars closed up as i made my way in, last night.

 

 This was 7th Heaven in the site of our old bar across the soi, Run by a nice american guy who didn't rip his customers off. Sad to see him go

 And 2 bars in that little complex at the front of our soi.

 Thai operators who thought they'd make a killing charging 200Bt for lady drinks and 1,000Bt bar fines. Good riddance, although i have some sympathy with all these closures - "Pay up or Close Up" is the mantra of thai landlords!

From memeory they used to play the game with bar fines, keep on changing the rules, even though little customer numberrs.  I got the shits and left.

Preparations are under way for the upcoming parties and volleyball. The judges for Miss C & D will all be thai, so expect the unexpected ! Their idea of beauty may vary a bit from ours.
