Personally, i wouldn't call it a "short stroll" to the action. You'll be sweating your nuts off after 15 minutes "stroll". You'll be taking a motorbike taxi back, i'll bet.

...have you noticed how pristine and odor-free his nuts are?

I think it is his cologne, Ode de Singha...

I made the mistake of staying at Rico's Hotel once in Patong. I had asked if it was guest friendly via Email but didn't ask about LBs. I came back to the hotel the first night with a LB and they wouldn't let her in. I ended up having to get a room for the night at C&N and checked out of Rico's the next morning. Fortunately I hadn't paid any money in advance. Not likely there will be a problem with a LB but it can happen if you are as unlucky as me. Too bad, Rico's was such a great location.

Me thinks I'll be taking a taxi both ways then :-) don't want to arrive stinking

Just to clarify, you'll want a MOTO-taxi, as Jimbo indicated. There's not really taxi's per-se, like you'll find everywhere in Bangkok. For gawds sake do yourself a favor and avoid those red tuk-tuks! They charge 200 baht, minimum. I think a moto-taxi will run you maybe 40 or 50 baht...a bit more if you double-up with an LB.

That sux XY, I know. I stayed in a modest hotel off Soi Buakhao once...can't even remember the name. Same thing happened.

I thought I might have a problem at the Tri Trang Beach resort on Phiket. Very nice place, oceanfront.

After pre-paying, for a DOUBLE room, one female clerk tried to deny my LB access. Fortunately, working with her was a very effeminate gay guy who i'd had very polite chit-chat with earlier. He intervened, and there was no problem henceforth (though I did have to pay a joiner fee). He told me if i'd register an LB for my entire stay, they'd waive the fee....for future reference.

Thanks Surin Nix for the reply. I did get it - the moto taxis are the gents on mopeds that will give a lift (similar to Vietnam and Cambodia). Most in those places were just guys trying to make some extra bucks. I've taken them before but am always careful to make sure I can't smell booze on them. When I travel, booze can only be on me...
