At 10.55 I head down to the reception of my apartment, and get a call from NW to say he is on his way. I get on to Dav26 and he says he is waiting over on Pattaya Klang with his company for the trip, May. The taxi arrives, I take one last look at my apartment, I have had so many fun nights there over the years, and I have no idea when I'll be back through its door again. I get into the taxi with mixed emotions, this is it, I am leaving Patts, but excited that I am bringing some rookies to Hua Hin to show them around. The taxi swings onto Pattata Tai, up Second Rd and onto Klang. We pick up Dav and May, and hey we are on our way, Hua Hin here we come, Pattaya already a fading memory.
I call ahead to the Celtic GH and book 3 rooms, what a relief to know we have rooms waiting for us at the other end of this journey. The journey should take about 3 hours or so, but as it is a holiday, and the traffic is bad in reality it takes 5 hours. We stop for refreshments but to be on the safe side, we ensure at least one of us keeps an eye on the taxi just in case he makes off with all our gear. You can never be too careful. We eventually arrive at the GH about 4 pm, and the owner tells us we were lucky we phoned ahead, if not they would be full by now because of the holiday. As NW and I are planning to stay for a week, they give us the rooms for 600 Baht a night, good value for what we are getting. My room has a narrow balcony with a view on the port, and is next door to NW.
We laugh because it is true.
